If you do try to write your own music, even if it is Midi, fair warning: Writing music/composing can be quite challenging...but the rewards are worth it in my opinion.
Also, even if you have a midi keyboard/controller, you'll need a cable to connect it to your computer either via midi port, or via serial game port.
And, for the record, cakewalk makes a pretty nice midi sequencer in my opinion. (I use Cakewalk Homestudio 9.0)
And also, if you plan on burning a CD of the midi tunes, you'll need to convert them to wav or mp3 format first. Winamp can convert midis to wav format. just search google for directions on how to set it up.
Although, since some of the tunes are lun's own creations, I would suggest asking his permission before burning a CD.
