Time compression was not irrelevant to the plot. It tied in strongly with the time-spanning nature of the sorceresses and the resultant enduring nature of the SeeD organization. Its thematic importance was also emphasized by the fact that Rinoa becomes possibly the only sorceress remaining in time, as she absorbs the powers of others from throughout the time continuim.

Yes, and it makes NO fucking sense. They threw that plot together last minute because they spent the rest of the time trying to make Squall as close to a goth as possible without quite becoming one. It's like me making saying this: "food eat hungry taste good sex fuck orgasm" the words connect from one to another in a row but as a whole it makes no fucking sense.
