Is it acceptable for males to show sensitivity or vulnerability?
Are females expected to be as successful as males?
Is appearance considered to be equally important for both genders? Does one gender tend to play a bigger role than the other in raising children?
Well I don't know really, it used to be like, boys=masculine girls=feminine, but now with all the culture mixzed and everything, we're getting femenine guys and masculine girls. I'm not against it, but it confuses me a little. I don't knwo what's being emphasised more, but I think that a guy should be masculine, but still be somewhat feminine. Women should stil be women, but still be able to take control, so taht would be the masculinity.
All the feminism movement of equal rights and women power has put females in more and more high-positions. But still ther is some unequality, guys get paid more, and is still more likely to be hired onto a high position than females. But still, it's not as much "us and them" between guys and girls now. If things keep moving at this pace we ought to see real equal rightsm, and same paychecks for women and men.
Well, I'm a romantic so I beleive in inner beauty, but still, I'd probably refrain from getting together witha girl that looks like a foot. It's genetic to some levele i think, we want handsome people since handsome poeple = probably handsome children. But that's not everything, everyone has different tastes and natural selection has been flushed down the drain. And also, both males and females have been active in making themselfs look attractive for quite some time now. Following the current fashion is one way of doing this, since you wear the current "cool" stuff you're considered succesfull. As you get older you wil need to follow the trend still, although not as fanatically as you might have done during your teens.
Myself I'm rather self consious and tend to consider myself lower than average attractive. But I'm not about to hop on some bandwagon of trends just to make myself more attractive. After all you're after a person, not a shell. If you want to settle down with a family you'd probably take the kind ugly guy than the mean hunk. But as for short time girlfriends and temporary flirts you'd probably just go for the hot people rather than the kind guys.
As they say, nice guys finish last.
As for raising chilkdren, guys are movign more and more into the feminine roles of parenting. And it's becoming more and more equal. But still, I think it'd be better if you raised the child bearing in mind how you want him/her to develop. A child takes in his parents and learns the roles of the family through them. If his mother always does the dishes and cooks he'll think that's what a wife should do. I can't say what's better, but my father and my mother has shared the cooking for most of my life, and I accept either of them doing it. I've heard that in some countries (namely america) having the husband cook is almost impossible. Can't say for sure about that one. Anyways, both parents need to take part in raising their child, there's no handbook, since two poeple, most liekly with dirrefent ideals and morals are working together to shape a new individual thqat wil carry both of their values with him. Either they choose to give him only some, or to give him all of it.
If you think my answers are hazy and stuff then it's because I've partied and ahvent slept much, anyways I hope you can interpret something out of that, I'll get on the irc later on the coming week.
