Does anybody know a decent web host?

Postby Sling » Thu Nov 03, 2005 3:29 am

Does anybody know a decent web host that'll let me upload my RPG games onto the net so I can put them on Gamingw.net? coz so far all the ones I hav used are shit.
In this day and age, an era where there are people who actually throw shit at each other, anything, could be possible.

http://www.100webspace.com

100 mb space, 3000 mb bandwidth each month.
Supports stuff like PHP to.

Other then trying to find a webhosting, why not turn your computer into one?

http://www.apache.org.

Have fun setting that up :)

http://www.hostultra.com

Unlimited Space and bandwidth for FREE. :D

If you want to upload files larger than 1MB, you need to use an FTP client.

The long version.

The short version: Something that a webhost would brag about having in order to get you to use them. If you're going to have a website large enough to require database management like that, you're better off using a serious webhost or your own server.

How do you turn your comp into a web host? I had no idea you could do that.

Considering the fact that all web servers are simply just computers with large chunks og memory and harddisk space with a fast internet connection, it isn't that big of a stretch to run a server on your own computer. Although I would suggest you run it on a dedicated computer. On a Linux box. You don't need a real powerhorse to run it, since it probably doesn't have to deal with much traffic. My server is on my own box at home, so...yeah...it's not too hard to setup.
