I say we use RMXP, but if we can't get that to work we can use Rm2k. I would rather not use Rm2k3. Its battle system sucks.
<WarV> You know what this place needs?
<Strayed> hookers?
<@Jeramyu> boobs?
<WarV> How about hookers WITH boobs!
<Strayed> I don't like fat guys.

EmperorJeramyu, I'm leaving it up to you with what you want to use. RM2K is decent but not the best, RM2K3 battle scenes aren't very likable, and RMXP is somewhat complex compared to RM2K... so, please tell us what you plan to use, because our sprite artists can;t get to work until they know what program you are going to use. (personally, I think we should give RMXP a shot)

RMXP is so aggitating.
I'd go with RM2k, because it's more user friendly.

Well, I REALLY don't like the 2k3 battle system, and somehow I feel that would destroy the integrity of the Crestfallen games. That, and I can't think of anything I would need to do that would require any features exclusive to 2k3.

RMXP... well, I don't like it for many reasons. Too many to explain.

So it looks like I'm going with RM2K. Now I know some of you don't like this idea, but I feel it's the best engine to champion the Crestfallen series with. There's no reason I need any of 2k3s features, and I'm not familiar enough (among other things) with RMXP to be able to achieve the level of awesomeness I'd like.

RM2K it is, then. :D

btw: jeramyu, are you thru with the script yet? You said it was eighty percent complete about two days ago and that you were working hard at it. So...uh... is it ready?

if you're not done, that's cool too.

I'm done with Act 2. I'll email it to you right away. Some crap has recently come up, so I might not have Act 1 done as soon as I said.

There is a patch thing that lets you insert MP3s into RM2K, but I have no clue if it works or not.

I can code a new battle system.
But I need details...

As far as the patch goes, I don't know if it works. I remember trying it and it didn't work.

Actually, if the old games had their own custom midis (i.e. not midi from other games) Send em to me, and I can throw them into fruity, touch them up, add fx and whatnot, and export them out as mp3 if need be.

The only problem, is if one track or channel uses patch changing. Fruity isn't very friendly about those...at least i haven't found a way to make it change the patch when i'm using a single sample....guess I could split it manually into a different track, but that's a pain >_<

Oh, and I can also write up some battle music and whatnot. Used to be pretty good at it. Er, at least I usually got good comments and votes at modplug :D

-edit-
Oh, migh thelp if I throw in my contact info. E-mail: hs_Mazrim@yahoo.com or james.musicman@gmail.com

aim: jwp52079 (though i haven't been on aim much lately but it's handy for file transfers)

for the record, my connection is dial-up, so if I do transfer mp3 sized files, it'll be from campus :P

-another edit-
Oh, for the record, modplug central is back up (i've got a few songs up there for reference.) Most of them are in impulse tracker format, but I think there's one or two that are mp3s. Also: I mostly use FL3.4 now. I no longer use modplug tracker, so the tunes up there are some of my older works...i.e. pre-composition classes and stuff. But they're not -too- bad. My artist name on that site is Mazrim

CBS: I don't see an immediate necessity for something like this, but if it were fluid enough it could be good. The main thing for me is the idea of having multiple people work on it, and having to send it from person to person. It seems like there are too many things that could go wrong, and too much specific coordination. That, and I'm the only one I trust to be able to finish what is started. =P

The mp3 thing: That'd be great if someone could find the patch. To my knowledge, there aren't any custom midis in the Crestfallen games. I could be wrong though.

Jeramyu: i understand about the whole act one script thing. i don't mind at all. whenever you can will be fine. Also, i agree with you on having too many people work on it. let me just post this list to make sure i've got everything right.

-For music, we have Vaylos.
-For sprite art, i'm sure Jeramyu could do some of that. other than that, Fitz has that under wraps.
-Programming, Jeramyu has most of that. Exiled is willing to help.
-War, I know there is something you could help with. Not programming though. I'll think of something.
-For chipsets, Jeramyu, perhaps? I don't know.
-For face sets, Inderos says he could do it, but we won't need them for a while.
-Sage, Porter, Ryan, Impossible, you guys are probably going to just be beta testers unless we need you for something real important.

i think i got everything and everyone who has posted so far. if I forgot you, sorry. i'll start on that act two script, Jeramyu. Thanks man.

I can't make chipsets, but I do have quite a few. Original chipsets are never a big deal/expectation/necessity anyway.
