I thought it was written for halo 3 especially.

Must... fight back... urge to kill...

EmperorJeramyu wrote:It's not like incorporating historical works of prose into other works is anything new. It's generally called an "allusion" or in some cases it can be a "metaphor". So let's not start fellating Halo's writers quite yet, because people have been doing that shit since a loooong time ago.

My ex-boyfriend put the fifth stanza into one of the chapters in the story I was sharing here, for chrissakes.

(Oh, and not mad at you, Jera, by the way. That's anger from the other thing...)

Yes, that's what I meant. But saying like that makes it sound like Halo was created specifically around or because of that poem, which it is not.
It's just an extra little bit people can research into if they're bored or addicted enough.

I'm sure nobody intends to take T.S Elliots glory.

Wasn't this topic originally about Impossible getting hit by a car driven by some random asian women? I wonder how long this topic will last until it gets locked.

She has an urge to kill me because I don't know T.S Elliot wrote the poem.
She wants to kill me because of my ignorance, even though I said I used to think it was written for halo (I don't now by the way).

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." (Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio)

Actually, using mock-aol speak is probably a much easier way to draw my wrath. It's tempting, I'll say that much. Regardless, this topic needs to die.
