Widgets....What the hell are those?

Yeah, so a friend of mine was bitching about their "widget" getting buggy, so I couldn't resist making a joke or two before asking what the fuck a widget is.

I found this: http://www.konfabulator.com/

Damn, this is nifty! Now I can find out how much memory I am sapping by running a widget to see! And I can generate Ron Burgandy quotes whenever I feel like it! Whoohoo! And I have a little zombie man when I get bored! Dear god there are so many!

So, anyone else use Konfabulator?

Wow, I didn't know ripping off Mac OS X technology was so advanced already. Do you have Spotlight as well? That's even niftier than widgets, because it means you can search your entire computer in one or two seconds instead of five or ten minutes. Jesus, next you'll have a default browser that is secure and conforms to web standards!

...Wait, that's never gonna happen.

I actually HAVE seen widgets used in Windows before. From my understanding they're a lameass knockoff that works in a way nowhere near as awesome as real widgets. Like, I press F12 and - Wikipedia! Dictionary! Calculator! Newest PA comic! And I press F12 again and - school work! Yeah... That's it...

Macs are cool these days. Before OSX, they were awful IMHO, but now they absolutely pwn. If I could afford it, I would definately buy a powerbook or something.

Anyway, I run my PC with an objectdock at the bottom and almost no icons on the desktop (which I used to think was pretty stupid, but after using it for a while, I can see why the Macs implemented it).

Now, with all the buzz about Macs running on Intel processors, I imagine we'll see a rise in popularity. If the Mac world ever introduces compatability for most windows based apps, I think that there could be trouble.

Back on topic, widgets are cool

Are macs like, actually staring to get good games that don't start with "Marathon" or "Escape Velocity" ? That's really the only situation where I'd consider buying one.

Yeah, widgets seems to be pretty common for economics classes, I'd like to see douches used as the example though...

Company ABC produces X more douches this year than last year, the supply has gone ___ and the demand will go ___.

Not sure exactly WHY, but I do know those are the kind which have a specific hardness of sorts, excellent for shading in different degrees....But I just try and I can shade. I mean, it's not that hard. I think that they didn't want to make an eraser (it requires too many dark mages to summon the required componants to make an eraser tip).

actually; the dark mages probably put on the metal eraser for shading; sumoning requires a lot of effort; no matter how many dark mages you have; there still gonna be too lazy

All those viruses will be able to infect my Mac mini as well as my PC. :(

Hadn't thought of THAT one, thanks for ruining my dreams

Oh well, Macs have been growing in popularity over the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if it continued to increase and gave incentive for developers to offer Mac compatibility.

Then again... I keep having this nightmare where Apple and Google team up and take over the world, so maybe we should kill the beast while we still can.
