I bought the parts off of Konrad the Tall and Awesome and I'm putting it together soon. I might manage to get myself a camera so I can capture this Kodak moment... No more bitching about shitty Dells, no more "oh, I can't play that game cause my e-penis is so tiny in terms of hardware", no more grade point average for that matter


Who else here has a handbuilt computer? And NO, I don't fucking care about the fact Macs can't be built by anyone other than the mac overlords, so don't make this a goddamn OS war. This is about hardware, no more, no less. Can't build yours, then bugger off.

My dad and I built mine. That was all the way back in the year 2002 so the hardware is obviously very outdated.

CPU: AMD Athlon 1800+ XP.
RAM: 512mb DDR300
GFX: Geforce 4 Ti 4800
SFX: some random intergrated one.
8 speed hitachi DVD rom drive that can only play DVD,CD and DVD+R (I have this because my other one died and I couldn't be fucked getting a new one).

Dual Layer Optorite DVD burner 16x(dvd+/-r)4x(dvd+r DL)48x(CD,CD-R)
dunno about rewritables it says it all on my box somewhere.

HDD: 60gb and 12gb dunno about the brands or the speeds.


Not very great but we did build it in 2002 and it runs most of the games I play fine.

All of the computers in my place are hand-bulit.

You and the other 2 million people with better comps don't envy me? Oh noes. Good thing this is my first one and all. Lest you have more time to build yours to that level.

Yeah, so I got keys to the case...it was like the first keys to a car, only a lot cooler.


So good news is that it kicks total ass in terms of graphics


Bad news is I can only detect one hard drive with windows, which means I need to delve into linux to find the other 260 gigs somewhere in my machine....which then requires I get an internet connection to check the time database or something...so, off to a rocky start.

I have a Radeon 9800 sitting on the floor in my dad's basement...
