Hmmm. Anyone seen any good films recently? Favourite films ever? Favourite genres? Music from films? Things that should be made into film?
For me, I saw 'Batman Begins' on DVD and thought that it was pretty good. One of my favourite films ever is 'Spartacus'. I love the music from 'The Lord of the Rings' and, apart from 'The Way', of course, I would like to see at least some of 'The Chronichles of Thomas Covenant' by Stephen Donaldson because, if anyone else has read them, I would make a whole topic on them.

Well like I've already stated, Steamboy is good, Akira is better, one of my favourate films. Ong Bak is cliche as hell but nice stunts etc. That's about it for me.

If I were to list off a few, I would Definatly start with Spaceballs, then go to a Serenity, then mabye hit you with a Akira, and finish off with a huge helping of Old School.

All of the Evil Dead series pwn ass.
heheh. You know _MurtagH_, I think it's awfully funny that you say Anime/Manga is cliche (which I agree with to an extent) but you list Troy as being an awesome film.
TROY IS THE MOTHER OF CLICHES! THE WHOLE STORY BECAME THE BASIS FOR THE WAR-TYPE CLICHE USED BY WRITERS EVERYWHERE!

Chickenman, dear dear.
Say what you like about the film but the story is not a cliché. Things become a cliché/ stereotype after particular aspects are noticed and emphasised. This shouldn't detract from the original. Everyone is going on about howthings aren't original and are always copied from other things, but the Iliad is a true original.
Let's see I'm adding Zulu to my all time list.

Anything can be cliche, of course the events of Troy can't be cliche, being so historical. But a modern film can be.
Anybody seen the new King Kong? Now I've the story of King Kong was pretty original, it deviated from the typical love story. The new one is so stupidly "Hollywood" and cliche it just makes it plain bad.

I suppose your right anything modern can be cliche.
Another good comedy: Bruce Almighty.
Not cliched this time. Isn't it great

You have terrible taste in comedy's. Anything with Jim Carry in it automatically sucks, though I didn't mind Truman Show for the story and I hear Eternal Sunshine's actually good.

I like truman. as for eternal sunshine... it's just strangely depressing to be honest. Not even deep as i expected. Or vaguely funny. I like Jim Carry ehehe i loved Liar Liar. Fun for all.
I still think Wedding crashers is the funniest film of 2005

The most awful film I've seen recently is Star Wars 3, absolute top of the class A grade rubbish, although worth watching to complete the story. It was OK the first time I saw it, but I watched it again over christmas and it was DIRE. You could tell the actors were fed up of it!

heh. I'm not saying that the Illiad is cliche, I'm just saying the story nearly invented the cliche.
and Troy the movie, is in fact a giant cliche. Just watch it once or twice. I would point out about 1000 reasons why, but I'm tired right now and will only explain if an explanation is truly needed.
