I have no idea if this has been tried before but do all the bots come from a common email provider? If so, ban the email provider. I've seen that work on some forums in the past.

They aren't guests. They use some voo-doo automated registering that COULD be stopped by one of those "enter the number" deals. If they show up as guests, it's just because someone deleted them after they posted.
