Do you like Metal?!?!

Well I do, and 2007 is going to be the most kick-ass year ever.

Here are the releases:
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
Dreamscape - 5th Season
Freedom Call - Dimensions
Ivory Tower - IT
Kamelot - Ghost Opera
Labyrinth - 6 Days To Nowhere
Nightwish - In Requiem
Sonata Arctica - Unia
Sun Caged - Artemisia
Threshold - Dead Reckoning
Thunderstone - Revolution 4.0
Vision Divine - 25th Hour

Can you say orgasm?

Let's run down 2006 right away. Pretty weak year.
1) Edguy - Rocket Ride - It's Edguy, 'nuff said
2) Andromeda - Chimera - Best release from Andromeda
3) Devin Townsend - Synchestra - Much to offer from this album
4) Dragonforce - Inhumane Rampage - These guys are fast....extremely fast.
5) Cloudscape - Crimson Skies - Solid prog metal release.
6) Angra - Aurora Consurgeons - Nothing like their old releases, decent at best.
7) Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime II - Absolute crap. Retire already.

Pre-ordered Unia.

Also, Overture of the Wicked from Iced Earth comes out June 3, with more goodness coming in the fall. IE is also going on tour, which is pleasantly surprising since Schaffer has been very ...depressed to say the least, having lost his father recently. Also very busy, he has a daughter now.

And I'm still waiting for him and Blind Guardian to go on tour for Demons and Wizards.

I've been making the same mistake too. It's "Inhuman Rampage". Doesn't change the fact that my face melts off every time I listen to it. The reconstructive surgery is painful and expensive, but it's worth it.

I just got back from a 5 hour drive, filled with Dragonforce goodness, I had to change my underwear 3 times and I my pants are stained with my face. It melted :(

Perhaps you did, I have bad eyesight and a repute of spamming. So pay no heed!

Yep, looking forward to Kamelot's new album.... they seriously rock.

And Operation Mindcrime II was indeed a total disaster. Even with Ronnie James Dio they couldn't pull anything off; though when a band starts to get in an aged guest singer thats not always a great sign.

Will probably glance at Nightwish and Sonata's new one, though I've majorly gone off them.

And Edguy.... love 'em.

........

And if you like progressive metal perhaps you guys might want to look into a band called "Green Carnation". A bit pretentious but not bad.

And Sling? Malmsteen on guitar? Pretty sweet. Been going through a bit of a GnR phase meself.

Reaper and Gentlemen, I have just been ripped by Scar Symmetry, bashed by Into Eternity, decapitated by THE HAUNTED, and gutted by DARK TRANQUILITY.

DT was fucking insane. Their new album comes out the 24th, and I must say they are fucking awesome. There are not enough strong profane words to use for DT, it's just so...AARGGH! I smell like sweat and beer now, but that's the price I pay.

By the by, their singer gets like a fucking 15 out of 5 for crowd interaction. Motherfucker surfed, knelt down to the crowd about 80 fucking times, he grabbed my head and we growled for like fucking 15 seconds into the mic (I'm good at making growls up, apparently), and he gave me one of the set lists specifically as they were closing. Truly a night to remember.

There is some kind event going and the organiser wants my band to play. The only obvious question is what 2 DragonForce songs should we do? I'm thinking Operation Ground and Pound for the first (but we'd need a 7-String guitar or have a 6-string tuned down to B for the Rhythm parts) but I can't decide between Fury of the Storm or Through The Fire and Flames for the second song.

Thanks. I've now got a guitar pick like the one Malmsteen uses so that's made it easier, but it's fucking hard, because you can get hand cramp really quick. GnR are good to learn, Slash is a fucking badass. I learned every single song by them when I first started to play guitar but I've forgotten most of 'em now.

How about playing the trooper by Iron Maiden instead?

Catchy..... riff.....ecstasy.

But actually not to hard to play except in terms of the speed.

Oh and BTW, not exactly very metall-y anymore but Anathema's new album "Angels Walk Amongst Us" is coming out this year as well.
