I feel I shall have to make a list.

1) She sent you a link to... the message board? Or to crestfallen.us?

2) Everything isn't a very descriptive word for your problem. What specifically is wrong?

3) A guide? Theres a walkthrough for The Way in Estrana. Which brings me to my next question.

4) Are you talking about this forum or The Way?

Note from Lun: I edited out the condescending part of your post. Hope you don't mind. =)

Help

Hello SillyInRed. I'd be glad to help you out step by step.

First all of this game is only compatible with computers that are Windows compatible. Specifically, if you are using a Mac computer the game won't work.

The following instructions are for a Windows 98 computer. If you are using Windows 2000 or XP some of the instructions may not work quite the way I have listed.

Let's begin!

1. First you want to download Episode 1.
Go to the downloads page and look for the link with the following title.

Updated 3/23/2004 Stand Alone - Episode 1 (7.1mb)

Click on this link and choose to Save the file to disk. Make sure to remember where you save the file on your computer so you can find it.

2. After the download finishes you will have a file called way1.exe somewhere on your computer. Open it and installation of the game will begin. Don't worry too much about all the legal writing, just agree to all the terms and install the game.

3. After the game is finished installing you should be able to start it up by clicking on a little icon that is placed on the desktop.

If you can't find the icon then do the following.

Click on the Start menu(it's in the lower left corner usually), select Programs, and find The Way - Episode 1. Two more options should appear. TheWay1.ico and Unistall The Way Episode 1. You want to click on TheWay1.ico. The game should start.

In short... Start>Programs>TheWay - Episode1>TheWay1.ico

=====================================

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

When the game is open there are only 6 keys the do anything.

The cursor keys which are right under the Delete, End, and PageDown keys on most keyboards, move your character. (Right, Up, Down, Left)

The Enter or Space bar key is the action key. You use it to talk to people in the game, strike with your sword, etc.

The Esc key(upper left corner of keyboard) is used to call the games menu. Press it and hold for about a second and a menu will pop up.
You won't be able to control your character at the start of the game. It's a big long "cutscene" and you won't have control of your character for a few minutes at the start.

Menu Controls.

5 options will pop up in a cross pattern. I forget the exact positions, but it goes something like this...

Blade Arts
Stats Links Auras
Notch Item

When the menu is up pressing the LEFT cursor key will call the Stats menu.

(Left) Blade Arts
Stats Links Auras
Notch Item

When the menu is up pressing the RIGHT cursor key will call the Auras menu.

Blade Arts (Right)
Stats Links Auras
Notch Item

Pressing up will call the Blade Arts menu.
Pressing Down will call the Notch Item menu.
Pressing Enter will call the Links menu.

To escape from a menu or go back a step, press Esc until you are out.

I'm sorry but I just had to laugh at that. That brings me back to the day they opened the computer lab at the elementary school. "Now first, DO NOT DELETE EVERYTHING. DO NOT UNINSTALL ANYTHING. DO NOT CLICK ANY BUTTONS THAT WE DO NOT TELL YOU TO. YES, EVEN IF THEY ARE VERY PRETTY."

The only game on the computers was Number Munchers and thats all we were supposed to do anyways. I got the best score. I was excellent at simple math then and could do any of the problems in a snap without even thinking. I think the record still stands to this day. I'll have to go back and scare the little kiddies away from the computers to check.

Dude! Number Munchers was soo awesome! I loved that game. At the time it was so...futuristic. I was like one of the only ones who beat it within classtime. And the same thing with Oregon Trail 2. In fact, i WAS the only one who beat Oregon Trail 2 within classtime. I'm so cool. 8)

Wait... How the hell do you beat Oregon 2 in one classtime? You must have had at least 45 minutes in your one class time.

Heh. That's not possible, though. She's only 17. For her to have a child that is smart enough to use the computer AND type efficiently, she would have given birth to the child when she was 7...

There are points before puberty where a girl can get pregnant. I didn't struggle through sex ed and get an A+ to forget it all.
