Aphorisms and Haiku
An Aphorism is a brief saying embodying a moral, a concise statement of a principle or precept given in pointed words. These are little words of wisdom that better ones personal life in some aspect. Below are some examples:
Poor Richards Almanac, by Ben Franklin
A penny saved is a penny earned.
More men have been made slaves by their wealth, than have been freed by it.
One I found on a sig and have used occasionally:
Trust those who seek the truth, not those who claim to have found it
I would like, just out of leisure, for you to try making one yourself. Some can be ripoffs of actual ones, but as long as its not official (and I dont mean changing a word or two) and it makes a good point, it should be fine. This is just for fun: I reiterate this as to strongly reccommend that you at least post one of your own if you are also going to say something else. If you wish to post an aphorism that is insulting to another, as long as it qualifies as an aphorism, it will be fine.
And if you want to do something else to insult one another, you may do so via Haiku. We all should know Haiku by now. 3 lines, first and third are 5 syllables and the middle is 7. There are variations, but as long as it hits 17 syllables, its all good.
It is at this time I implore Jeramyu and Porter to remove any non-haiku or non-aphorism posts that may be posted. I give you my full support to lock this forum if you see it goes too far off-topic. And if anyone does go off topic, you shalt be deemed "queer that talks too much and nobody likes" and if you have no concern with any of this "poetic crap" then simply ignore this topic like so many others. If nobody finds any interest in this at all, then let me apoligize in advance.
