Ok this much has become clear to me after replaying episode 3 once more...
Slade does NOT mistake Strata for Kygar, for he knows kygar well enough. This is mentionned at the blue scarf central... As slade rushes in for the kill kygar knocks cetsa out cold, when he noticed slade was coming. He mentionned:" but that's slade he's a shadow foot"... so who is kygar exactly? And what's his connection to our boy slade?

Fine, you want an example that you can't avoid? How about the scene explaining how Rhue was healed after Strata tried to kill him. That looked to be very significant early on, but it's pretty clear that it's ultimately to go nowhere.

I guess you could call it a introduction to x-life.(a very vague one though) It might be important in later in the story. Its also the first time you really see something that could be described as "magic" or something not possible in real life. It sort of sets the tone of the rest of the series to more of a fantasy world, then a real one.

BUT I WANT DANA AND WES TO COME BACK!! I liked those people... And i want to know what a mender is actually... Rhue finds a mending stone in the pits, which turns him into a "mender"... what is so special about dana then? Lun didn't let these two people come to full potential... I might wanna make a short story on them explaining what the menders are... ^_^ ok start flaming me for such a crappy idea it was only a joke... But i still think they were cool introductory characters...

they were nice enough but i thought them a little bland
i like rosmar more as a minor character

i think a mender is different to just getting and absorbing a mend stone though because she used "bloodlife" instead of XL. maybe she has a natural talent for that type of (does lun call it magic?)

The whole idea of different types of X-Life was dropped from the later episodes though, so the discussion really comes to naught. I will reiterate here my feeling that Lun should give some of the characters in later epsodes more uniqueness in the naming of their X-life varieties.
