Dirk can definitely be a lifesaver, but most of the time he's just superfluous. I consider the wind spell to be his only good skill (even Valentine rarely seems necessary; Dirk falls long before the girls do). And even the wind spell is only halfway good. First off, he starts out with Dust Devil, which causes level 2 blinding. The problem with level 2 blinding is that it only reduces enemies' hit rate to 60% of normal. Sure it's a nice bonus, but it isn't the most failsafe thing ever. And then, when you hit the Asyra stretch, it upgrades to Tornado. Tornado rules. Level 3 blindness cuts enemies' hit rates to 30% of normal and lasts on average 20 turns (the entire battle, one would hope). Level 3 blindness is nearly as good as prone because it lasts so long.

The problem with Tornado is that it's really only necessary for one enemy: the Lapizua. The Lapizua's immune to prone, as I'm sure nearly everyone's noticed, so killing it without blinding it is significantly more difficult. If you take into account its stunning abilities, a group of three Lapizuas could easily knock you out. Enter Tornado. Lapizuas can't do anything under level 3 blind (what can?).

The other enemies Dirk can Tornado are vulnerable to Prone and Tornado is generally unnecessary. And the bosses Dirk fights with Tornado are immune to all blinding, except for the Flist which is just extremely strong to it.

So the only practical uses I've found for Dirk are blinding the Lapizuas and the Carsavoran and the occasional Valentine. Plus he's dependent on his skills, and I don't feel like using absorb every turn with him just to make up for his 1 XL gain unless it's necessary.

we are all assuming that dream estrana is the place all aura's go when rhue kills their hosts right? what if dream estrana is somekind of heaven, where everybody goes when he or she dies (without rhue involved)? And in that case, is estrana the only ''dream'' place or is the whole way coppied in this dream. it would make some sense, but I am not entirely sure yet why rhue sometimes is in this heaven. maybe he is haunted by the ones he killed and is dragged into it by he sword to make the suffering less (he can finally meet them again). and then we have the midian is rhue theory, one that fits into it better. what if we are seeing nothing but rhue's past, the time he was still midian? (i think must of us think the last over-talked theory the most)

Jabbo, Prone won't ALWAYS be available if you're not using the Illuminati... :P

When Prone-resistant enemies are spawned in Episode 6, you will convert. I await only such testament.

Jabbo, a moment ago you were arguing that Dirk is usually useless because most things can be affected by prone. Make up your damn mind.

But have I not already proven that Illuminati does not yield any significant proning advantage and is actually LESS effective than the 3 XL auras at proning?

Edit: I'd also add that if proning becomes less practical, Dirk's blinding will become a lot more useful as well. I didn't really think of that at first, but yeah, Dirk will probably become a lot more useful in Ep6... but my previous statements stand on his usefulness in Ep5.

Dirk is my beeest friend (Tornado, tornado, and...oh, yes: Tornado.)

Edit: Just saying, but I use Aionsluh, myself.
