Beetle-juice.
The land beneath the sky,
Echoes of the past decry.
A lost love carried on,
Words to a lonely song.
Everyone must bleed,
Rhue gets the sex he needs

Hmm, it looks like the name of Rhue's sword is Aubuta. That's what Kalmar says when he tries to ice Rhue and can't, in the exact same manner he gives us Traziun's sword's name, Night Reaper.

Does that ring a bell for anyone? I did a quick websearch for it but didn't come across anything significative. Doesn't seem to be an anagram either.

Well, "Aubuta" doesn't sound especially Shadow-y to me. 8)

And remember that we always see Rhue's sword freaking out/reacting against known, or at least strongly-suspected, Shadow Swords : the one in Lide, the manifestation of the same sword in the Pits in E3, Kalmar's sword.

Rhue's sword sounds downright Illuminati. I'd be ready to venture that the Harbringer's sword (Gaius') is also Illuminati, and an Illuminati blade refuses to strike another.

One counter-example is against Slade, who is not known to be wielding any kind of special sword as of yet, but maybe in certain life or death conditions, especially with the frame of mind they were in (with their infight discussion), the Sword will act to protect the wielder.

Well aubuta could be one of the illuminati, there is no knows number to how many of them there are.

And yes Rhue's sword has acted on it's own a couple of times. I'll count a few:
1. the plateau when rhue goes possesed and strikes the shadow swords into the pits.
2. Rhue fights a shadow figure in the pits, if rhue loses the blade will fire a ball of light towards the figure.
3. can't remember any more incidents

Yes, I've thought Rhue's sword might be Illuminati. Remember that the Illuminati dispense the will of the Purpose. Since we don't know the history of most of the people Rhue has killed, we don't know if they were deserving of death in the Purpose's opinion. If Rhue is the PS, the same thing applies, and this explains the apparent "randomness" of the killings: he's only executing the ones that deserve it, for reasons we don't know. The Harbringer is also supposed to bring justice, so the Illuminati couldn't kill him.

Meh, just some ideas. I don't necessarily believe them myself.

(And yes, Betelgeuse is Ford Prefect's homeworld.)

He's also doing acts while Rhue with his sword possessing him.

What could happen is that his GOOD side takes over and attacks the Shadow Sword/Shadow Man.

When he's on his BAD side (subconsiously knows the Aristotzoi are going to kill him, wants to be faithful to Serena when girls hit on him) he becomes the PS and kills.

But why can Rhue still "see" himself? Remember the aura theory. I think Rhue may have two/three auras. One good, one bad, and one (maybe) totally neutral which may not be a real aura, but a balance of his two existing ones. There may be a point in the game where Rhue is told about this, and convinced the bad aura came onto him, and he has to throw it away (but really the bad aura would be the innate one, and he killed someone and absorbed the good aura). So what happens is his bad aura is so powerful, it doesn't just cast a "shadow" of the soul, it literally can manifest into the shadow of a person.

And it can use a sword. r0x.

But who knows?

Wait... someone mentioned back there that Shadow Man was a manifestaion of a Shadow Sword. But there's so Shadow Sword there.

Unless it's Trazuin's Night Reaper, which WAS thrown into the pits. Hm... Or even Ghost Horror? Could Scatha have been on Delhara battle grounds because SHE WAS DELIVERING GHOST HORROR TO KALMAR!?

Actually, that seems totally plausible. Kalmar probably also exploited Scatha's brittle emotions for a weapon to defend himself from Trazuin (He saw him in the other grounds, and probably realized Trazuin's resurface was BAD).
