Serena and the Phantom Slasher

Postby Jabbo » Fri Apr 01, 2005 4:20 pm

I haven't seen these ideas in the forum before and honestly I don't see why not. I mean, now that I think about it, there really is no doubt in my mind that this is the truth.

First off, Dana is Serena. Pretty much his whole life, Rhue's been chasing after this girl who he assumes is further down the way. He sets a good pace for himself and outstrips numerous other wanderers. So you'd think he'd come up on Serena at some point or another, right? Well he does. In fact, he passes them. Shortly afterwards, he's slashed by Strata. Then, Dana and Wes come up on him and find him and he travels with them for awhile. Not once does he tell them who he's searching for. At the time of the Landorin Massacre, they were what, 5 years old? So Rhue obviously doesn't look like he did back then and Dana doesn't notice. Why's her name different then? It's not. When Rhue got hit on the head by the wolf, it was obviously a pretty bad blow. He simply forgot everything except the last two letters, "na," and filled in the rest. What kind of a name is Serena anyway? That's what I thought.

Who's the only person in the entire series who has used bloodlife? Dana. When Cetsa found the pendant, it was coated in blood. So, I think it's a pretty simple explanation that in order to help harness her power, Dana coated the pendant that Rhue gave her in blood. Who knows why she got rid of it, maybe she ditched it when she met Wes or something and Cetsa found it. So who's Wes, you ask? He's just some guy that Dana met on her travels. Rhue might be going crazy over his lost loves, but Dana isn't. She meets a nice guy, they fall in love, etc etc.

Secondly, Therin of Nelin is the Phantom Slasher. Shortly after Rhue left the first group of people he met on his travels, the Slasher came and killed them. Later, Rhue meets up with Therin. After a quick Plunge, Therin says that he's "listening to the Purpose." Rhue keeps going and later they Plunge for the tournament in Estrana. Now if you were the Phantom Slasher, would you just walk by Therin and not kill him? I mean, the Slasher is obviously travelling around where Rhue is on the Way; why would it leave Therin alone? The answer is that Therin IS the Slasher.

So why'd Therin not kill Rhue at the end of Episode 1? It's pretty simple. Just a little while before, he'd taught Rhue the Plunge. Do you really think he'd just up and kill Rhue afterwards? That's like building a tower just so you can knock it down. Even if he does knock it down later, he wants to see how Rhue's Plunging turns out. So, in Estrana, Therin decides to go easy on Rhue so that he can gauge Rhue's strength. If he'd launched his full power, Rhue might not even have survived. Now that he sees how good Rhue's gotten, he's doing all kinds of stuff to make him even better, like giving him back his sword etc. After all, you don't find too many worthy opponents these days, and given a little more time, Rhue might be the best Plunge opponent he's ever fought.

Therin likes helping people, but he likes killing them too, so why not do both? I mean, you can help people by the light of day and kill them at night and no one will be the wiser.

Yeah, yeah, you say that the Phantom Slasher and Serena have to be major characters and all, but really they're just regular wanderers. Serena, or Dana, is just a regular girl and the Phantom Slasher is just a regular guy who happens to enjoy killing people. He's no different than the Blue Scarves, except he doesn't steal stuff from the people he kills. It really is that simple.

The only good parth of your entire therory is that Rhue already passed Serena without knowing yet, the rest seems very random and has pretty much no evidence to back it up.

I must agree... that is one terrible theory, or at least one with no evidence stated that many people here will actually consider it. Though if that really happens... which I doubt it will, man will Lun have messed with our heads.

... wow

I've never heard of that one before...
I've never heard of a more contradictory one either.

Well, that's an... interesting theory. The correlation between Dana's and Serena's names is pretty sharp (though it probably doesn't mean anything)... and I think Serena is a fine name.

Heh... looks like this topic is just going to reinforce your dislike for forums...

Regarding "Bloodlife," that is just one of those things that got dropped after the first episode. (There are a number.) I would very much like to see different characters get special names for the X-life forms, especially Cetsa/Lexus. However, this is evidently a minor point that Lun has decided not to bother with.

That's the worst theory I've ever read, and I hope it's just a really bad attempt at a joke.

I'm with you all the way on that one. Partially because I don't want to live in a world where somebody could really take this seriously enough to post it as an actual theory.

Time is running out for him to say "April Fools".

The Therin being the Phantom Slasher was totally random an just imagination talking. No hard evidence at all.

The Dana/Serena is actually quite good, but in my theory, i still stick by the whole choosing serena's hair colour and yeh. Dana's hair is blonde i think, so what happens if you pick serena's hair as brown or red?

Pretty crappy theory, but it's better than dude's theory that Rhue is Serena and he gave the pendant to himself.

Some fucked up people on this board.

Wow. Apparently I didn't do a good enough job with my tone to make people note that I wasn't being serious... oh well, I guess I can take the negative response as credit toward my believability or something.

The goal was to create the most convoluted theory possible. I did forget the part about there being a book in Turnway called Stoloniferous Plants of the Nelin stretch and how Therin wouldn't really be into the whole Stoloniferous Plant thing, but overall I think I was pretty successful.

By the way, it wasn't an April Fools thing, because that would imply that I had some standing here. I mean if Lun had said that he was going to discontinue the series, that would have been an April Fools joke, albeit he would have probably been crucified, but just submitting a random theory, no.

Certain people here have no senses of humor. It's something you just have to get used to.

Lun's smarter than that. He knows most of the board would kill themselves before he got a chance to cry "APRIL FOOLS!" and would be a brilliant way to kill a few people I dislike on the board. And by that I mean everyone... except for Porter.
