you assume that it's safe to look anywhere you want in the book of sermeot or eve.

Fwacho made a comment long ago about someone being on the right track with Serena (or maybe Rhue) not appearing in the Book of Sermeot, but not in the Book of Eve, either.

Although you do have to wonder how someone can check the entire book for a name...

Well, I don't really assume it's possible to look it up in an instant, but it's still Rhue's goal so if it were impossible from the start Dirk would have certainly said so, I'd think

But... That's just the population. The Book of Eve lists EVERY SINGLE PERSON to ever be born on The Way. Over a lot of generations, it's a book with many millions of names. Although we don't know when the book was created... Even a million or two would be a lot to read.

Or maybe they're listed in the order of their deaths/births. If you know relatively how long ago someone was born, or died, it wouldn't take too long I don't think.

A magic quill writes down the names of the deceased/newborns so I assume there will be a magic means to go through the books as well. Maybe they can talk with the books and ask them about their contents.

People ought to be written in chronological order, so then since rhue would know how old he is he'd only have to check those thousand names bron around his year of birth (I'm assuming serena is the same age as rhue)
