I'd never call it tactical or strategic purely because it just reminds me of games like Age of Empires and stuff. Suppose it IS a form of tactics but in RPGs I'd just call decision making on behalf of your character. Which is basically what defines RPGs as RPGs.

A First Person Shooter of "The Way"? Where did that idea come from?

No. In fact, I think that the only way you would want to incorporate FPS into "The Way" is if the game was made like "Ocarina of Time"; in which, FPS tactics are only used when aiming or zooming in on a person, with the rest looking more like third-person. And still, at this point, I can't even see "The Way" in 3-D third person.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to agree with the majority of the people here in saying that 'No, this idea sucks'.

Most RPGs do not require skill, Then again most RPGs are either badly done or are focused on the story. And seriously, Some TBS RPGs require a lot of skill. And Action RPGs nearly always require skill if they are well made (Nox ect ect)

FPS usually calls for more skill then RPGs, true, But you have to find a middle ground instead of saying something about a whole group.

*Sighs* I love Phantasy Star Online. It requires both. ^^

Anyway, I'll agree that the Way fps= bad idea.

Hmm, no. Translating an RPG to an FPS is a terrible idea. The transition would just be bad. Dunno about you, but I found the Plot to be a big part of the experience, and FPS' tend to be bad in that regard... That's why I want to see how FFVII:DoC pulls it off.

It's not FPS, it's third person adventure with shooting. They'll probably do it in a similar way to all the FF games with a few changes.
