It's the only game series/thingy I know that always seems to have an optinal boss near the end that is stronger than the actual final boss.

.....maybe..... can anybody name one?
I've thought of countless titles I've played...
- Morrowind
- Zelda
- Any
- Any Starwars games
- any DBZ games
- The grand theft Autos
- various other RPG's

... and I can't think of any that Squaresoft (or whoever makes the FF's is I'm wrong) hasnt taken part in that has an optional boss that is stronger the the final boss. (and like I said... games that are like the FF's so don't try to argue games like Kingdom Hearts)

maybe some sports games where like u have to beat special people to get stronger? you can choose to play and get better or play low difficulty challenges against the comp.

Forerunner, your stupid comments about games never cease to amaze me. It's virtually an RPG staple to have an extra optional boss who is harder than the final boss. It's right up there on the RPG cliche list, IIRC, and it's pretty much everywhere.

Well you're probably right but could someone hurry up and post an RPG that does... because I can't think of any... and just saying that it is a key factor of RPG's doesnt prove shit. :!:

Golden Sun 1 (Deadbeard), Golden Sun 2 (Dullahan?), Mario RPG (Culex), Paper Mario: TYD (That skeleton dragon), to name a few.

I know there are more, but I can't name them off the top of my head (and to tell you the truth, I haven't really beaten THAT many RPGs)...
And yeah, Mario RPG is made by square, but it's not a Final Fantasy.

Optional final bosses are good (and therefore commonplace, we'd hope) in RPGs because they give the players a challenge that isn't directly related to the plot. If the final boss is a piece of cake, then they still have something to fight, but you don't have to beat the incredibly difficult battle to beat the game. Also, it makes the players who had trouble beating the final boss spend some time leveling up so they can beat the game's "ultimate challenge," milking more playing time out of them.

What the fuck? This is IMPORTANT? This is the topic we were all laughing at after we played E6, due to the fact that Strata was worthless in the end, after 15 pages of speculation about him!

Okay, we need to read through the topic and find out what important things were said...
