Well one theory is that Gaius was under Kalmar control but then he was killed by Traziun, then he becaume the new Black lyn and Gaius changed due to that, thus he acted diferently.

Yeah, that sounds good. But, I think Gaius is acting differenly because he doesn't have to hold anything back anymore - he has almost reached his goal.
