Alan isn't the phantom slasher!

Lets see Lun try to incorporate that into the story!

Unlikely, I think. Slade does not seem to know about the close relationship between Kygar and Violet. In his report to the council, he portrays Rhue as Cetsa's number two, which leads to Lexus' fascination with him. It therefore seems unlikely that Slade should know Kygar's identity as a Blue Scarve. This is further reinforced by the fact that Kygar moves freely about in Lide, so he is not a well-recognized criminal.

Slade and Strata ran into each other way (heehee way) back in no#1. you come out of the tent in that settlment with the rabbit race, slade walks up to strata and says "...i know you...". strata says they don't but this is strata, you can trust him about as much as Lyrra can throw him

ahum... that's what i was talking about... that discussion you quote is what i spoke of in my previous post and the question i asked was wether it
might mean that they knew eachother BEFORE EPISODE 1... according to their dialogue ... or is it that slade mixes strata up with kygar... :? *sigh* NEVERMIND...

Well, either way, Slade didn't mistake Strata for Kygar, which was my main point.

I always thought that Strata had some sort of infamy about him, enough that a lawman like Slade might have cause to be suspicious.

no problem flibbo 8) been there felt that myself too already
And strata being so imfamous would make more then just ppl of the law looking to him. I mean they all cheer for him when he's entering the tournament in the casino... if he would be so imfamous then i doubt ppl would do that... so there's gotta be a different connection.

Whatever the connection is, it has to be impotant, otherwise the whole scene was pointless. And there hasn't been any pointless scene that I can think of in the game(exept the C.O.O.L meeting, buts thats secret anyway.) Now someones going to prove me wrong, I just know it.

There are countless scenes with thus far no apparent significance. You assume that they will all tie in somehow to later events, and probably most of them will. However, it's very unlikely that all shall.

The most obvious example of scene that will almost certainly never be relevant again is the one that occurs after you help the bandits ambush the Guided. Given Velucia's obvious status as a villain later in the game, its very difficult to see her threats Rhue having any special significance.

Yeah, but that scene is optional, you could help the guided, then you find out that those settelrs were actually bandits and killed the boys son, or you can have nothing to do with either of them at all.

Fine, you want an example that you can't avoid? How about the scene explaining how Rhue was healed after Strata tried to kill him. That looked to be very significant early on, but it's pretty clear that it's ultimately to go nowhere.

Maybe Slade recognizes Strata...because he's one of the best plungers in the world!

Saying which: Why is he in the backcountry if he's so famed?

The nature of backcountry on The Way is rather mysterious. We don't really have any idea how "wide" The Way is, although it seems that nearly every wanderer has to pass through certain of the locations (such as Lide). So Strata might just be passing through areas that aren't heavily populated, yet still get a lot of traffic.

The nature of notariety is also difficult to decipher. There also seems to be a great deal of commerce going both forward and backward along The Way. (How does news spread backwards if practically nobody goes that way?) However, we practically never see anybody headed the "wrong" direction.

We know Slade has, for one. Kloe, Traziun and Gaius all have travelled backwards.

Question: If Traz wants to be a forerunner, why did he go from Delhara ALL the way back to Three Trees?

There's ample evidence of people having gone the "wrong" way, but Rhue never seems to pass anybody travelling the opposite direction. The only example of somebody going backwards that I can remember was the headhunter who called Rhue "Midian."
