Just looking over Episode 5...(possible spoilers)

so, i opened ep 5 up through rm2k and i found out a bunch of stuff.
but i just wanted to say this: why did Lyrra die like she did? i really didn't find it necessary. it's almost as though Lun had to find something to do one day and just said "Hah! Dead!". it was really quite pointless, in my opinion. but the ending definitely made me want to see more (ep 6, please come!).
another thing: Sacrifa and his two companions were all killed by the PS, right? i mean, it's hard to tell while reading RTP script.
also, i looked at the credits, and there is one scene where four random men are trekking across a snowy valley. i didn't think much of it, but I checked it out. one of them was named Shadow, another Blue, one I don't remember, and one named "You Know Who". Any insight on that, please? I'm sure it's no big deal, but my curiosity is sparked.
later, fools.

Lyrra isnt really dead, I think. She has one of those swords, I think, and the sword wouldnt let her die.

But Rhue "threw" the sword far, far away. I think it's fairly obvious she's dead anyway.

The swords tend to come back though, and you know it

I'll try to do this without spoiling too much. Why did Lyra die? Hrmm... well lets see hows about dramatic effect, profound symbolism, and to develop Rhue. Without going to far in depth lets just say that Lyra is a self-delusional romantic who ends up on the buisness end of a very existential/realistic (stay with me kids) sword wielder.
Let me break this down into "Gansta Rap" terms so you street urchins can understand: "You gotta get yours before I gotta get mine." Lyra is a relic of the old transcendentalism and romanticism she doesn't have a place in a new realistic existential world. Rhue's character development not only masterfuly parallels the development of adolescent sexuality, it also is closely related to the development of societal ideals over the last two centuries.
Rhue begins the quest very idealistic and romantic. He's embarking on a great quest to search for something that he's lost that he feels incomplete without. Quite a bit similar to the experiment in democracy taking place on our (those of us who aren't queerbo euros and salami slappin aussies) side of the pond.
As the quest continues Rhue eventually reaches a point where he's not even sure if his original goal was ever even sincere or attainable in the first place, he's lost his "way" so to speak. This happens largely as Rhue's power grows and with the addition of certain corrupting elements. He's beome to big to hold on to antiquated principles. So he discards them in favor of utility. I'll try not to insult the 3 smart folks in this forum by drawing the obvious political parallel, but lets just say it may have something to do with a certain method of defining the rights of certain men by using international treaties instead of intrinsic principles that were used as a national charter.
I'd like to say more, but it would surely get lost in the malstrom of "duhs" and "whuts" that inevitably follow all of my impecably reasoned, perfectly worded, and flawlessly exectued posts. I don't know why I still bother posting, every time I feel like I'm casting pearls before swine, Carl Jung, Jesus, you've got to be kidding me Carl, friggin, Jung, What a poop-smear.

When Rhue lost his sword it called out to him to get it.
When Rhue hit that sword into the pits in Ep. 2.
I think that sword comes back. I cant remember when though. I've not analyzed is very closely

Yes, but Rhue didn't die (and he's a very special case regardless, so you can't make a solid judgement based on him). And Traziun climbed down into the pits to get his back. Nothing about thwarting death, or magical flying swords.

Cocoa makes a good point about lyrra actually. I didnt think he was capable of making a serious post on the forum. Maybe i'll go read some of his other posts now.
And when I said that post before, I didnt really mean that the swords magically fly through the air when I said they tend to come back. What I meant was that the shadow swords that Rhue had thrown away tend to end up back in the hands of someone else. Magical flying swords arent half as cool as ninjas though.

well, about Lyrra's death. it wasn't all that "fufilling". Lexus's death was climactic, with Rhue nearly dying of hatred towards himself. Lyrra's death was like ... oh, she's dead. well, that sucks. anyway, follow Gaius!
i just wonder why she really had to die. it wasn't all that... sad.

I agree, Rhue and Lyrra literally said about one line each, with Lyrra having absolutely no understanding of what happened to her father (which turns it into an unfair death, I hate that), and Rhue just runs off. A bit different to Lexus' death...

I think Lyrra should have died fast. With Lexus, you were like "OMEG!" because she's the first real love interest for rhue after Serena, and the only one in the game, and you can just feel it coming when they're running through the mansion. But with Lyrra, when she finds out (somewhat) about her father and she attacks rhue, you don't know what's going to happen, so when Rhue just guts her, you don't really expect it. I think it's as (if not more. I need to play it again) powerful as Lexus's death.
Still, the very ending of ep. 5 made me crazy.

It just shows how much Rhue is being driven to do anything that could result in finding Serena.

this is a bit offtopic, but in ep 1, Slade sees Strata, and says that he knows his face. has it explained yet how Slade knew Strata? Strata didn't seem to recognize him, so it may not be a deep dark relationship like it is with Scatha and Dirk, or Traziun and Kalmar.
also, does anyone have any idea who the "You Know Who" is during the credits? it's killing me. Lun knows something that we don't know... (go figure)

This has been discussed, but nobody's found any compelling evidence of what their prior interactions might have been. Perhaps the most popular theory is that Strata was Chasta's paramour, but this is just speculation, based on Strata's personality.
