Help on a few stats...

As some of you might recall, in the distant past, I said I was working on a plunge game of some sorts in Java. Well, now I'm having a minor bit of rouble, and would like your help...
I need stats for six different "Lyn"s. The fact that I do want them fair and balanced means I won't be able to use the stats from the game. So I've decided to ask you guys to help me generate the stats for the six Lyns. There is one Blood Lyn, one "shadow" guy (the one you fight in a vision), four guys and one female. I will not be using any "major" Characters like Rhue, Traziun, Strata, etc.
Anyways, these are the stats I need:
- Name
- HP
- Plunge
- Damage Threshold
- Critical Strength
- Critical Hit %
- Blade Arts (max of 8)
- Cross Sweep % + Linked Blade Art
- Lunge Cut % + Linked Blade Art
- Drop Slash % + Linked Blade Art
Release date is currently cautiously labeled "shortly after Episode 6" so that I can grab any new art, blade arts, character sprites, or anything like that.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Fixed the list...>_<

Wait a minute, does this mean it's not multiplayer, and its gonna be a single player game?

No, it will be multiplayer. But currently, the system I have setup is that you get to choose from a few predefined Lyns to use (think Street Fighter) instead of a system where you customize your own Lyn. This is due mostly to the fact that I am not familiar how databases are handled in Java yet.

It's objected oriented much like C++. As far as databases are concerned, are you refering to external file handling? If so, try using classes to keep your variables and locations under the same global field. It's just a suggestion, but file handling and arrays are much cleaner when trying to swap data back and forth between data files. And since it is multiplayer, load and databased data from the server host.

Do like this, check where your lyn ranking switches in the game, and you'll get a rough idea of what ranges the stats go. The beginning stats are for wanderer. Check with the maxed save files, check Rhue's lyn ranking and stats i the beginning/end of each episode. also maybe in the middle in some cases. You'll get a rough idea.

Actually, I've coded in the formula to get your actual ranking as a Lyn. It isn't too hard - only took me an hour of searching and actual coding. For those who are interested (Lun might change this in Ep6 though):
- Code: Select all
protected void processClassification() {
int test = plungeMax * 10 + dmgThreshMax * 2 + strides * 2 + critMax +
critStrMax + crossSweepMax/5 + lungeCutMax/5 + dropSlashMax/5;
if (test>40)
if (test>80)
if (test>120)
if (test>160)
if (test>205)
if (test>250)
if (test>290)
classification = STRAPHALYN;
else
classification = VANDRALYN;
else
classification = PORTALYN;
else
classification = DERALYN;
else
classification = CORLYN;
else
classification = HYLYN;
else
classification = PLYN;
else
classification = WANDERER;
}
Got that almost completely from RM2K. Took me a while to find it though.

I am sure I am missing something but it seems like the less than signs should all be greater than signs. Maybe someone could explain what my misconception is.

Check the notch/aura thingy walkthrough, I posted the Plunge stats of everything there, I forget if I did Episode 5 though, easier to wait for 6 and do both at once.

Whoops. I miswrote it when I retyped it here. Fixed now...

Well, I'm using them if worse comes to worse. They aren't exactly balanced, as they get gradually harder and harder.
EDIT: I also noticed I missed Vandralyn. Idiotic of me. Note to self - DON'T ever rewrite a method from memory.

If you need random stuff like classification calculations I have most of that stuff in my FAQ Plunge section, although I can't give more than a 90% accuracy rating on that.
As far as numbers, I'm guessing you want the Plunging to be on par with Kygar and Strata at the end of Ep5. It seems like here Plunging is just starting to get pretty strategic and more interesting, yet injuries have not yet become utterly obsolete. So, here're my suggestions. I haven't tested them whatsoever, although I could. Note that I don't feel like coming up with names.
[Standardo] - Standard fighter. Middle of the road at everything. The kind that really isn't bad, but no one picks because they want things to be shiny.
HP: 150
PL: 12
DT: 40
CR%: 7
CRSTR: 8
Blade Arts: Ray of Light, New High, Lanner, Crippler, Burning Edge Slammer
Cross%: 40% Ray of Light
Lunge%: 45% Lanner
Drop%: 35% Slammer
[Artfully Impaired] - All brawn, no show. This guy's blade arts are called injuries, because he doesn't get much else off.
HP: 180
PL: 15
DT: 45
CR%: 5
CRSTR: 10
Blade Arts: Cool Wind, Jagged Edge
Cross%: 0% Nothing
Lunge%: 20% Cool Wind
Drop%: 20% Jagged Edge
[The Snail] - This guy's goal is to make the fight as long as possible. He wants to slowly whittle down his opponent because he isn't too worried about taking damage. Finishers also play a key role.
HP: 200
PL: 7
DT: 55
CR%: 8
CRSTR: 7
Blade Arts: New High, Cool Wind, Lanner, Fenshu, Slot Plug, Downpour, Weak Link
Cross%: 50% Downpour
Lunge%: 35% Fenshu
Drop%: 45% Lanner
[Berserker] - For the quick, exciting match. He has good Plunge and stellar criticals and blade arts, but oon the other side of the coin, his damage threshold and hp are awful.
HP: 80
PL: 14
DT: 25
CR%: 25
CRSTR: 12
Blade Arts: Ray of Light, Critical Eye, Burning Edge, Slammer, Backlash, Destroyer
Cross%: 40% Critical Eye
Lunge%: 45% Slammer
Drop%: 55% Destroyer
[The Chain] - A little shabby on the combat side, he's all about the Blade Art game (and links!).
HP: 120
PL: 9
DT: 35
CR%: 15
CRSTR: 5
Blade Arts: Ray of Light, Lanner, Crippler, Strong Link, Downpour, Fenshu, Double Plug, Destroyer
Cross%: 60% Destroyer
Lunge%: 50% Double Plug
Drop%: 55% Downpour
[Standardo II] - Standard fighter. A little less middle-of-the-road and more on the side of criticals and Blade Arts.
HP: 125
PL: 11
DT: 40
CR%: 12
CRSTR: 7
Blade Arts: Ray of Light, Critical Eye, Lanner, Burning Edge, Slot Plug, Weak Link, Strong Link
Cross%: 40% Ray of Light
Lunge%: 45% Lanner
Drop%: 35% Slammer
I've got no idea how the ratings and classifications will pan out and how well it'll work, but hopefully you can use some of these ideas.

Lun also added a few comments for the average Plunge stat for each lyn rank in his code, but you probably saw that when you figured the formula.
Straphalyn - 21
Vandralyn - 18
Portalyn - 15
(Note: At this point, Lun stopped putting in comments, so I'm assuming it just continues to go down by 3.)
Deralyn - 12
Corlyn - 9
Hilyn - 6
Plyn - 3
Wanderer - 1 (Since a value of zero would probably return no attack value)

Jabbo: Thanks a lot man! That was exactly what I needed, especially since my (only) tactic would fall under "Artfully Impaired".
EmperorJeramyu: Yes, I saw them. But I don't think they play much of a roll for actual classification purposes.
