Perfect justice theory

Perfect Justice is a HUGE theme in the game. It's hinted everywhere. "..The Blood Lyn always have a reason. It's because the Blana Sera said so.." Whereas the Blana Sera might be on another plain - perhaps the upper way, but does that really give them the right to judge who dies and who lives? And for the Guided, they kill under the purpose but has the purpose ever said that it's right?

Also, Slade killed himself because he had followed perfect justice his whole life. Now he realises nobody has the right to say who lives and dies. So he throws himself off the cliff in his way to stop perfect justice. Shadows swords, being made in the pits [supposidly] and being made for human hands, my guess is that they are for humans to destroy themselves. They seem to coix people into thinking death is the only justice. Slade realised he had been following this his whole life, even if he knew nothing of shadow swords, he killed himself. Now Ghost Horror flying off to try and trick him isn't suprising. Then Rhue, flying it off in Slade's direction by his sword [that definatley acts shifty] Lord of the pits is a try hard. Slade already killed himself to stop him doing that.. but will he be tricked? Or maybe the sword will revive him, and he decides it's a sign from the purpose, and now he will decide what is right. But having a shadow sword, and thinking for yourself at the same time couldn't be easy. Plus, Rhue could have simply parried Lyrra or stepped aside, I doubt the shadow sword made her more powerful than him, Strata was just fucking creeped out when he saw the blood on Lyrra's face.

Rhue himself is hinted by others about perfect justice "YOU THINK YOUR SOME KIND OF HERO DON'T YOU?" and Kloe, who at points decided Rhue was EVIL but then "I think I'm beginning to understand you Rhue" or something like that.

Also, the man in the pits have been wiped out of existance by Rhue's blade. It really seemed like an illusion to disappear when it died, I think he killed someone's aura.. or even their soul.

I thought the main reason why Slade jumped was because all the chicks around him that he had to protect were dying and when Kloe got next to him, he felt he had to protect her too but his mentality was that she'll just die like all the other women so instead of risking another woman's life, he kills himself. And of course, he was still depressed about the whole serving justly for corruption, but yeh, thats what i got.

I like the idea how Rhue's blade can destory someone's aura or soul... Interesting...

with everyone hinting everywhere about justice, I couldn't ignore it as a possibility. Then he's so upset about what he did to his sisters, and tried to make it up to other girls.

I was thinking the 'soul' he killed [if it was a soul] was Midian's, possibily the previous owner of Rhue's sword and therefore the previous PS? [if you believe those theories] I noticed Rhue gets more and more badass after this point, so maybe it was a warning influence in the back of his head.. like "dont let yourself become what I was" or something.

My impression was that Slade was trying to back away from Kloe but ran out of room. Which is why that entire scene always makes me laugh, but your interpertation would explain why no-one else seems to find that very funny.

Myabe. He didn't want Cesta to help him. I think he was so depressed he knew he was out of room, but didn't care really. He wanted to jump.. He said "Maybe the river here can finally give me peace"

Dammit, nerx, this is actually getting annoying, I don't need to read long posts from you every single day. >_>

One of my favourite PS theories is based on the whole perfect justice thing, too. Which reminds me... Gaius, as we know, is manipulating both sides of the Guided, and seems to be working for Kalmar. So how can he be the PS? Was he just using Kalmar, too? I think the perfect justice idea works best with Rhue's sword as the PS (IIRC, that conversation between Roman and myself had a better explanation of that).

Hmm, I'm all over the place. I was thinking that most people are going Slade is going to get up and be the perfect blade, but why would he do this after killing himself for realising the real truth of 'justice'

Edit: Edited because I was replying to another post

It's pretty clear Slade was having some pretty intense suicidal thoughts when Kloe came around.

Think about it. EVERY woman he's ever tried to protect has ended up dead. He's been taught to uphold justice and protect the weak, and what does it get him?

-His little sister died
-He has to toss a mutilated Chasta into the pits (Which is pretty much the death of Chasta)
-The death of Zeddicus' wife (Never mentioned, but we can assume that he was in and around the area, and probably felt some guilt for it)
-Lexus getting hacked up
-He assumes Lyrra got killed by the blood lyn

Well, I guess Patura survived :P Also, if there's any justice in the world, his mom died too :D

This sort of mentality being crushed over and over would definitely make him suicidal, and insane. When Kloe approached him, he honestly believed that she would eventually die because of him, no matter what. He didn't kill himself because he was depressed, however. He killed himself because he wanted to protect Kloe (by removing himself from her presence).

Slade is a sick, sick man.

I think this was combined with his resolution that nobody can say what is right and wrong, he would have jumped anyway. Kloe sped it up.

The death of Zeddicus' wife

Do you mean Sacrifa's wife?

I think his death might reveal to be more important in the realisation he had, although his death was speeded by his extreme feelings of guilt. It was probably a combination of these things. He had realised all his life he had followed what his superiors wished him to do. Then he realised nobody can say what is right and wrong.

No, Zeddicus' wife. Shadow Foots are affiliated with protecting people of the Vigilante. In this case, he had to take care of Lexus. However, she dead. And so is her mother. And the dad. So Slade did not do his duty.. In fact he sucked :P

Nah Slade rocks... I think it's just bad luck he has to fail and witness so many deaths of hot chixorz.

In contrast, he absolutely kicked the ass of everybody he came into contact with.

Hell, even Rhue was going to face his second defeat before his Sword cheated.

Her grave is somewhere in Estrana. I'm too lazy to go find a name or anything but she definatly existed.

She sure did... If you remember the gravesite... You also get a notch item there... Use teh imagination my friend.

And yeh, I like how Amgard puts that the Sword cheated. Just when it's the end of Rhue, the sword starts doing the nuke stuff. why can't it do that all the time?
