... are sticking out of the trees in E5, the scene where the phantom slasher kills the rebel guided.
Is this to indicate that they've inexplicably killed Alan, and further irrationally dragged his body along with him? Is that even supposed to be there? I'm pretty sure that they're his legs - I checked the sprite, and it looks just like his lower half, reoriented horizontally.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before - i did do a quick search. And yeah, I know, it's irrelevant, but it's flippin creepy.

It has been mentioned several times and the general belief is that it was not put there just to show Alan is dead, but rather that he COULD have been a witness to the Phantom Slasher's murdering rampage out in the woods.

I seem to recall a rather lengthy topic on this exact subject some time ago, but I can't find it now.
Fortunately Alan is too completely useless to ACTUALLY alter the plot. So even if he saw the PS and knows the horrible truth and understands everything about the Way in its most complex details and knows more about what's going on than Gaius, nobody will listen to him. I guess that's why fwacho said he becomes the funniest character in E6...

Alan - You citizenry must take heed as to what has befallen me! I have foregathered evidence of the Phantom Slasher impervious to dispute.

not really, used too simple words.
or as Alan might say:
Forsooth, mine utlization of sesquipedalian words cannot articulate the undercurrent of Alantronheus Phillipe Strapashars mentality.

Thats what I though about characters like Alan, until I played Three the Hard Way and met Alex.

Didn't fwacho say that Alan gets alot funnier in episode 6, meaning he's still alive? Unless you can be funny and be a ghost of some sort.

Alan could become the funniest character in the game from Dream Estrana, as the Phantom Slasher could have killed him along with the guided (this is if we're following the Rhue is Phantom Slasher, people he kills go to Dream Estrana' theory.
