what if rhue's amazing abilities of aura absorbtion don't come from his shadow sword?
what if they come from him and are only supercharged by the shadow sword?
just something to think about

perhaps an addiction to the extra power his sword supplies him with?
my theory is that he had aura absorbing abilities previous to his aquiring phantom slasher, that is why even the phantom slasher didn't know who he really was

It was made pretty clear by Jopaga and the women that shadow swords do absorb auras.

i'm not saying that shadow swords don't absorb auras, i'm saying that rhue could before he got his shadow sword.
edit:
nor am I saying that the shadow sword doesn't cause aura confusion.
assuming that rhue is the mimic,and that the mimic was venge, we normally (in most of the theories) assume that the mimic used a shadow sword to collect auras. but what if (because he was the son of the lord below) he could absorb auras without a shadow sword.
therefore using the shadow sword would add to his power.

Into the sword. Dream Estrana exists within Phantom Slasher and that's where all the auras are that have been collected.

Maybe Rhue acts as a catalyst, rather than an Aura stealing agent of his own. Without the sword, he's just a normal wanderer, but because of the confusion with body/soul/aura his aura absorbing abilities as the Phantom Slasher are, as cursethemountain said, super charged.

Except that the aura/body/soul confusion is caused by the sword as is plainly stated in episode 6.

Maybe without the shadow sword, he is just a normal wanderer like everybody else and with the shadow sword, he can absorb complete auras like the 'Arm of Estrana'(Phantom's Blad)
