The Plunge

You see for a fangame, I need to implent the Plunge.
The question is how. I can:

1) Take it from the Way, and basically be the same interface and such.
2) Code it from hand, and design a new interface. Keep in mind, due to the complexity of the plunge, it'll be dumbed down.

I'm leaning to choice 2, but I'll let you guys decide. :?

Choice 1. Why put a lot of work into making something inferior?

The Plunge uses such an enormous amount of annoying complicated script, I'd just copy it.

Or not make a fan game at all, knowing in my heart that it would be but a shallow mockery.

I'd say take a middle road, take the coding, read it through, understand and then work with it.

That's a lot of work. I figured out now, to do the plunge, I'll have to switch E6
around a bit, and change it to Rm2k3.

 I'm doing something productive.

If I were you, I would copy it. Just copy the game, and delete all the maps in that, except for a single plunge, and edit that one.

But that's if I were you.

If I were me, which I am, I would probably waste my time making my own plunge which would be okay, but then I get lazy when there are numbers, and I couldn't do anything as great as Lun's. You probably have just a bunch of people jumping at each other, using over-flashy moves, without showing damage, while your laughing your ass off at the complete crap I wasted half my life on...

Yeah......

You're a freaking genius, Chipmunk. Why didn't I think of this.

Still, I have to change it a bit. I don't want the same looking plunges. Nobody wants to play a crappy fangame that people assume is going to be bad that you can play in a much better form.

And there's the issue of Rm2k3's DBS and battlecharsets...Agh, my mind hurts. I hate creating custom battlechars.

You know what would be an even more productive use of your time?

Make an original game.

Yeah, I made four. Soooo...what?
All right, I get it, you hate fangames. Give it a rest, I don't need a argument right now. You're going to get this topic closed.

I agree with jasonflare, so bring something productive to the tread.

Since obviously, your computer game blows us all away. And you're certainly doing something much more productive than making mere fangames.

Dude, forget it already... I do like the idea of a fangame, so I'd be the last to flame or discourage you, but rm2k3 is just not worth it... I like rm2k3 just as much as the older version, but listen to me before you reply... I tried this before so...

If you are to use Lun's battlecoding aswell (which you might consider because the xl-drawing portion of the battles is actually a core part of the way series. If you are to use ethers or the likes and regular magic point ... I will kill you myself. I mean it. )you might forget conversing it to rm2k3.

I made whole set of battlechars of about half the cast (rhue, traz, gauis, scatha, cetsa, dirk, slade and then I stopped.) and this as a surprise for lun, thinking I would be like incredibly smart to remake the way into rm2k3 to give the game a boost graphically to bring lun even more fans...

FORGET IT, Lun fucked up the whole rm2k engine (and I mean that in a positive way ^_^) and somehow the whole battle thingy won't work... a whole bunch of the coremechanics of the plunge seem to go haywire too if you converse it to rm2k, basically the whole game won't work, unless you are intending on spending hours on hours to fix those bugs and programming leaps (but I doubt anybody exept lun or another addict as myself, would even attempt such a horendous task, and yes I did attempt it but gave up halfway-hurted my brain too much).

Lun himself said it was near impossible to pull the thing off, when I told him of my attempts... So, either stick to the older engine or make an orginal game, or explain damn well in your game why the hell you don't use the xl drawing! shotgun's lying right next to my bed just in case!
Good luck if you do consider to converse it though! if you manage, gimme a call

I've spent the past few months developing a Tales of Phantasia Battle System, a custom one, and I'm almost done!!!!

So many abandoned projects, maybe this one will be finished! :D

Of course not. This isn't Final Fantasy. I'll still use the XL Drawing. I'm not using ALL of Lun's stuff. The main character isn't a Rhue ripoff.

>)>. I'm creating original characters inside the Way series. Crappy fangames usually get off like this:
"Traziun is Rhue's brother..."

Problem is, Rm2k3 has the same graphics as Rm2k. Only RPG Maker XP can harness the Way's graphics in full form.

When the game switches to RPG Maker 2003, somehow all the switches are gone. Don't need 'em though.

I am for, and created for the Way. To create 4 games, you need patience, and skills in coding.

Alright, it's come to my attention that you people think this fangame is going to be awful. Can't blame you but BEHOLD!
(Don't ask for anything else, this topic should be renamed Fangame, it isn't a topic for fangame shows)

Have I convinced you all that I'm ready for this undertaking. I'm taking the bull by the horns.

Somebody created one, but very laggy.

I think you sohuld put some more ambience onto the third map, it seems dull, the fog effect on the last is so great, the chipset for the first and second already have some relative ambience in them.
I could split the topic or rename it for you, just tell me.
