Episode 1 problem

I just played through the Way for the first time last week, and it has become one of my favorite RPGs of all time. So of course I tell my friends about it.

Anyways, my friend Calvin comes over and play until the end of Episode 1. Just as story between Lyrra and Rhue finishes and the characters go to sleep, he instantly gets a game over. He tried it a second time, and the same thing happened.

That's EXTREMELY strange. You should have posted this in the bugs forum though. I'm sure a moderator will move it there for you.

I'm afraid this is one of those bugs that will require your friend to start from an earlier savegame or even from the start (it's not that much to replay anyway).

Anyway, Lun will probably pick this up. Oh and you're using version 1.5 of episode 1, right (the one you can download of the site)?

I f you know how to edit the game in RM2K then you could just look through the events in that scene and edit whats wrong, other wise you might have to restart.(Look on the bright side, ep 1 is nice and short compared to the others.

Did Calvin run from his last battle with Rhue unconscious? If he did he would get a game over when the other characters leave his party, because the only party member left would be unconscious.

Oh God, that HAS to be it. My friend has had the same problem in Episode 5 because he fled from battle right before a boss encounter.

That's definitely what's wrong.

I never would have thought of that, I thought a gameover action somehow got put into the programming.

It will still be very easy to fix. There just needs to be a full recovery event right before the party members are removed.

Haha, yeah I just remembered something. Everyone but Traziun was dead in his game, and HP was coming back automatically after each fight... So he ran through to the end of the cave. Thanks guys, it was a big help! :)

Ugh, I'm sorry about that.

I really need to comb through the games again and find all the places the party changes and add RecoverAll commands in.

It's almost time for another major update. The bugs section has enough material in it to warrant taking some time off Episode 6 for some bug swatting action in the previous episodes.

Yeah, I think it'd be best to focus on getting E6 ready for beta testing, then you should be able to fix all the bugs.
