2 questions on weird things along the way

Greetings and yet another post on weird things along the way:

one moment rhue and trazuin come along a weird shaped towerlike building. (just before they enter the bloodlin hideout where kloe's to be executed... I have to replay the series i guess cuz i'm forgetting too many names)
THey are remnants of the past. I think they refer to it as citadels, and they don't even might have an interiour as it is what traz says.... What kind of things might these buildings be as they are evaded by most wanderers. And isn't the tower fortress of kalmar such a citadel?
I'll dig into it myself when i get back at home, seeing as i'm in class right now...

Another weird thing along the way is one of the 'back to death estrana' when rhue is to plunge the shadow plunger, the background is weird with a sort of saturnus (yup the planet) like background seemingly underwater. Another thing like that shows itself when kloe is to face the big bloodlin...(i'm sorry for typo's but i have to be quick -> teachers are not to be messed with  )... what are these visons, and do they represent unknown insanity or parts of the upper way?

Maybe anybody has seen something similar? Or has an opinion on this ...
And plz impossible as i said no time for spell check!! i promise to do cleaner job next time!!

The citadel is the second most obvious example of, "Wait a couple episodes and Rhue will get there," foreshadowing in the game. (The most obvious is the mention of The Lower Way.) Whatever the nature of the citadels, its tied in with the existence (or lack thereof) of the Forerunners, and based on the comments made by Dirk and Gaius near the end of episode 5, it seemes likely that this mystery is approaching a resolution. So we could see the interior of a citadel in the next installment.

It seems very unlikely that Kalmar's fortress is of the same ilk as the citadels (although it is an interesting question where the fortress came from). I doubt Traziun would lie to Rhue about not knowing anything about their interiors, since he clearly does know about the interior of his father's keep.
