Two events on the landorin stretch?

I was reading the wanderer's guide book when I came upon this
The Landorin stretch is a somewhat well known stretch because it bears the scars of two extremely horrific events that occured many years ago.
I know there was the Landorin massacre but what was the other one?

Interesting...

Perhaps its something coming up in Ep. 6?

Come on Lun! We can't wait!

the second event is unknown, everyone except rhue might know about it, after all everyone except rhue seemed to fear landorin due to the massacre, and most likely for the other event aswell

I noticed this teaser as well, and I have some ideas about what might explain it. The Landorin massacre might have had two components, for example; the scene Rhue remembers of Serena falling in the river (if anything like that actually occurred on Landorin) might have been part of a partially or entirely separate event. More likely, however, would be that the other event was whatever brought about the death of Lyrra's mother; in this case, we will probably learn more about it in dream Estrana.

That makes alot of sense it also could have something to do with Jeruh's death or it could be what happened to Scatha.

Or maybe the Way is repeating itself.

The pendant always goes to the river, the big city always burns down.

And someone in Estrana said that the Phantom Slasher has occured multiple times in history under different names.

Finally, Rhue and Gaius appear at that fated moment in the Way at Landorin where Serena was thrown into the river. Say much?

How is that even possible? :?

Neither of these seems likely to me, actually. Based on the memories that Rhue receives from Lyrra's father, it's pretty clear that Jeruh died (or at least disappeared) during the Landorin massacre that we've heard about.

Scatha's only known connection to Landorin was that she says she knew Serena. There's no reason this had to be before Serena was lost into the river. Moreover, what happened to Chasta seems pretty straightforward; the sole mystery regarding her disfigurement seems to be who her paramour was. (The only prominent candidates for this are Dirk and Strata.) Now, if Scatha knew Serena before the massacre, then it's possible that her younger sister's death might be tied in with one or the other of the disasters on that stretch; however, the most probable scenario along this line would be that the sister was killed (or fell in the river) during the known massacre.

Dirk seems unlikely since when Dirk relises who Scatha was he really didn't take it as such a big deal. You'd think one of them would act a little more emotional towards the other.(and the fact that Dirk looks to be 300 years older then her) Strata on the other hand could be the one. We all know Strat's always looking for the best girl and if he was with Scatha in the past after she got burned he'd be sure to find a new girl once he got a look at her. This would explain Scathas hatred to men. Also Slade knows Strata from somewhere but doesn't remember where, it could be very likely that he remembers him being Scatha's lover before she was burned.

I don't think Dirk is so unlikely. He is evidently older than Scatha, but it's tough to say by how much. Our only way of estimating Scatha's age is indirect, based on her brother's apparent age. I would say that Slade looks significantly older that Rhue, Strata, Traziun, or any of the other major characters whose face we've seen, except Dirk himself. Moreover, I don't recall anything that would suggest that Chasta wasn't older than Slade. Ultimately, Dirk could be a mere ten years older than Scatha, but even a much larger age differential wouldn't invalidate them as potential lovers.

Their behavior towards each other also seems to me perfectly consistent with this theory. They are obviously fond of one-another, but given that it's been at least a decade since their ill-fated tryst, I wouldn't expect that much more. For Dirk, it might not have been a big deal, just another conquest in his long life of womanizing. Scatha, for whom it certainly was a big deal, has chosen to disassociate herself from her earlier identity as Chasta. She doens't want to become emotionally entangled with her old, painful life, so she sublimates her response to Dirk's reappearance into other channels.

Plus, Dirk's self-portrayed ladies' man image might not have been that far-fetched way back when. He even starts flirting with Scatha a bit when he realizes who she is, doesn't he? I seem to remember him starting to say something about not being able to forget someone with such a beautiful name as (interrupted).

Now, as for the 2 Landorin events mentionned in the WGB, I don't suppose anyone has considered that maybe Lun just had Janwen and Landorin set to be in the same place when he drafted the WGB and then forgot to change it? For all we know, maybe Janwen was on the Landorin stretch anyway.

I like the idea stated a few times, that the Way repeats itself. The biggest sign of this is Estrana and Janwen - fwacho hinted strongly to this in a previous theory topic. Then there's also the mention of previous PS-like people.

If the end of E5 marks the cycle starting over with Landorin, I still think something is wrong there. Janwen is referred to as a historic or ancient city or something along those lines. So it's not something that happened in the last 20 years, really.

I don't think it's plausible that the entire timeline of The Way repeats itself. Rather, there is an inevitability to this world, in which specific events may be repeated, perhaps again and again. The time scales for the repetirion may not be the same for dfferent kinds of events though. This leaves open the question of whether these repetitions are a fundamental part of The Way's structure or are merely encouraged by the same.

Sounds interesting... so carry this idea to the extreme, look at humanity in general and see if these theories fit. or what would have to be true (or false) to make them fit?

Well, if The Way repeats its self, and its starting over at the end of Ep. 5 that means that there will soon be another PS and another Horrific event in Landorin.
