I think Rhue has neither a shadow sword or an illuminati... he has a combined blade. A merging of a shadow sword and an illuminati.
At daytime Rhue serves the illuminati, at night the shadowsword takes over and Rhue becomes the phantom slasher..


Just a theory...


Or maybe Rhue has the Paraphalyn's blade passed down from Paraphalyn to Paraphalyn...

I don't think Rhue's sword is anything we've heard about before now. I think what he has is something really special that's going to be very important to the Way. As to why Gaius wants it, perhaps Gaius wants to take it from him because he knows what it is.

...And wants to use it for evil deeds.

I don't think it's specifically Illuminati or Shadow either......he also seems to have a Shadow aura. Forget the name of it.

Well, Gaius could want it because he thinks he can 'better' The Way...but will probably mess it up if he does.

As for the auras, Illuminati and another one (I forget which, but I noticed this) seem to point more towards the Illuminati side while the other two point towards Shadow, so its hard to say. Besides being one or the other, it could also be two swords combined (one of each) or even like other people have said some kind of master sword (not Zelda style, more of a Lord of the Rings thing only with swords, you know?)

By the way the aura names are Illuminati (Light), Pandamaare (The Accuracy One), Hatassasar (Strong darkish one), and the one that seems the darkest is the Aiunsluh (Blood)

Hey I think Gaius wants the sword for himself because it's a REALLY special one like the paraphalyn's one, and the person/people who gave Rhue the Aura were actually one and the sword splits the person. The person wh gave was last Parapalyn. Gaius seems to be like Alex from Golden Sun to me.

aha! But rhue only got those last four auras because he took the powers from Slade. And Slade is a good person and yet is haunted by his wrongs. Therefore he could have both good and bad auras. The other two are up to you guys

That would be really weird if the shadow sword split rhue into two parts.

And kind of off the sword subject, the flashback in... episode 2 I think... right after Rhue is pushed into the pits by Strata where Rhue is asking Lyrra where Jeruh is... maybe it's really a flash forward. Maybe when you go through the End of the Way, time resets and Rhue is trying to fix the problems of the past. Or maybe that's all random and useless, but eh.

Wait, wait.....I thought Rhue got those auras because he finally released his full strength. You know, the enormous explosion.

No the enormous explosion in the Slade Plunge embedded Rhue's sword in Slade, the Slasher went and pulled it out and then when the Slasher gave it back to Rhue he got the auras.
