My theory (so far)

ok, this is what i think could be going on (at the moment at least, i'll probably change my mind fairly soon)

Rhue, lyrra, serena and Jeruh (that's lyrra's brother's name right?) we're all fellow wanderers as kids.one day Jeruh got ahold of a shadow sword (possibly from two strangers) and it overpowered him. Using
this amazingly powerful sword he went flippant (thats right flippant) and murdered everyone he wandered with. only 3 people survived, Rhue, Lyrra and serena. Lyrra most probably hid but rhue and serena
ran. Managed to catch up with them at a river however. Rhue tried to defend himself and serena but was killed by Jeruh. Serena managed to escape by jumping in a river/Serena was also killed.
however Rhue's aura, in so much anguish at losing his love (serena) was able to worm it's way into Jeruh's mind. His pain was so great in fact that he was able to take over both Jeruh and the shadow sword's auras. he constructed a fantasy about being attacked by wolf like beasts because in his current body, his memories would be of a duplacate of himself killing everyone he cared about. he wouldn't be able to handle that. Plus this fantasy also gave him a reason to live, following serena until the end's of the earth (or in this case the way). Jeruh's aura is too weak to control
rhue's but the shadow sword's has the ability to creep out for short periods when rhue is asleep or otherwise unconcious.
during these periods of possesion the shadow sword goes on a bloody rampage killing "for the sake of killing".
One of or the first person the Shadow sword (phantom slasher) killed was Median. His aura (as well as some others like jed) were able to live on in a dream world (dream estrana) but only people Rhue has killed can do this. This dream world is of course in Rhue's mind which is why headhunters can sence midian's aura and (in episode one) Jeruh.
the only Phantom slasher attack (so far) that was not made by the phantom slasher is the one at the biggining of episode 2,
this is because the actual killer (Gaius) tried to bury the bodies, this doesn't fit in with the regular pattern.
He would of finished the job but he saw Traziun and Rhue coming and was forced to run. He cut the bridge to draw suspicion away from him as it seemed more likly that it was the phantom slasher trying to slow down his persuers but if this is the case why no other traps?
The reason Rhue doesn't like mirrors is because he see's the reflection of Jeruh staring back at him instead of his own but he doesn't realise it.
In lide (in an attempt to find baller's killer) rhue found an illuminati, the shadow sword managed to possess rhue while concious for the first time and chuck it into the pits.
Later in Japoga's lab Rhue's aura temporaly left his body allowing the shadow sword to once again take over, killing everyone around.
when rhue's sword is seperated from his body, it can temporaly menifest itself. Notable occasions are when it killed the guy that the sword was found in the head of by slade after dancing violet's escape (i think) and returning the sword to rhue in no#5

Rhue, in Phantom slasher form, killed traziun's mother. traziun will now try to kill rhue for it in no#6

so this is a theory.
whats wrong with it? i know there's gonna be a few things or tons of things but it's my first real theory so please don't be
too judgemental with my mistakes

Thats actually pretty good. There's a few holes, but its good for what we've got. I suppose it's more likely that Rhue is Jeruh, as in the comments from Gaius and Scatha about his name changing... Theres more to it, thats for sure. Oh, and you spelled Midian wrong.

yay, thanks comodo
i am forever spelling median (right?) wrong

i was just replaying two and got to a bit in lide where some random guy talking about the ps attacks and he says that the killer is leaving children alone.
whats all that about? i've can't remember any future refrance to this, did lun forget about it or did i? it could help with explaining why lyrra is still alive

lyrra just hid i think... I like the theory too...
i'll even post more on this later on ! i'm trying to figure out the motive for the killing ...

If you mean for jeruh killing then he doesn't, the shadow sword does.
I seem to remember someone (traziun) saying that this isn't the first time something like the ps attacks happening and that got me thinking what if its the shadow sword that is and has been the ps

thx fly

just a thought, in ep#3 the shadow guy (or gal) could have also been a manifestation of the shadow/illuminati (i think illuminati) sword. the one rhue chucked into the pits in lide.
this could mean that scatha knows more than she's letting on as she refers to it as a person, this also fits in with my sword is a being theory and why scatha was looking for him, she wants the sword that he is made out of.

That's an interesting theory, that the figure may be the spirit of the sword itself. The magic swords do seem to have different "personalities." This would then probably tie in somehow with the figure that Rhue plunges just before he sees Slade's memories, because his consicousness is then contained within his own enchanted sword.

i was wondering, why does rhue hate paradans?
is it a character thing or could it have something to do with the actual plot?

It's just an indication of Rhue's personality. He finds Paradans cowards and doesn't believe in resolving things their way.

i was wondering if it could be something to do with one of rhue's multiple auras, or that the sword (see earlier theory) being a thing of malice and evil is controlling rhue's reaction to them since they oppose the very nature of what it is.

but its probably the character thing

Still with a creator as talented as lun you have to keep all possibilities in mind huh?

That's a very good theory, and would explain the connection between Jeruh and Rhue quite well.
