Well I think you had a couple of good points there Mayhem, and by having a couple of good points I mean missed the point of the game entirely.

One more time for those who still haven't figured it out:

I created "The Way" after watching "Neon Genesis: Evangelion" and reading FLCL. I was attempting to emulate them to some extent with a story of adolescent sexuality disguised in farely obvious phallic imagery. What does that mean? Well first off it means "Serena" as she is called is a sort of idealized heterosexuality. It's clean, it's pure, it's what all red blooded American men should crave.

BOTTOM LINE: Serena is a representation of normal adult heterosexuality, this is what drives Rhue's quest.

Rhue however is a deviant. In "The Way" I use violence to represent sexual aggresion, Rhue came into possesion of his sword too young and in a fashion that is to traumatic to be able to effectively wield it. As you notice all through ep 1 Rhue approaches plunges very reluctantly, He is unsure of his sexual prowess and only through the coaching of older males is he able to make any progress.

BOTTOM LINE: Rhue gained his sexual awareness from two men, and continues to seek out males to further explore his sexuality.

The phantom slasher is a representation of Rhue's repressed sexual urges.
Although the phantom slasher has yet to attack Rhue's percieved self, he is being assimilated into Rhue's everyday personality as early as ep 2. As the game progresses into eps 7 and 8 you can expect Rhue to become more and more like the PS.

BOTTOME LINE: The PS is Rhue's id, unrestrained by the super-ego. This is why we only see the PS when Rhue is incapacitated, sleeping, or in other states of consciousness.

SIMPLY PUT: If Rhue finds Serena basically we are saying that Rhue achieves some sort of sexual normality, however if Rhue is unsuccessful in his quest he will likely be swallowed by his id, the PS.

I tried to keep it simple so the majority of the ham-n-eggers who read this forum could understand it. I understand that not all of you can afford Ivy league educations, but could you at least pick up a goddamn book every once in a while? This is the easy stuff, you should have moved past it by now.

PS = RHUE'S ID
SWORD = RHUE'S SEXUALITY

For a guy with a banana as an icon I would have hoped you could have figured this out on your own. Rosmar is Rhue's sexual anxieties with an emphasis on sexual competition. Rhue is reluctant to confront what he sees as a very powerful foe early in the story. Rhue's competition with Rosmar, and more importantly Strata parallel the development of his sexual confidence. Remember Strata stealing Rhue's swiftfoot? Pretty obvious fertility symbol right? So Rhue goes an reclaims it do you remember how? That's important too.

First time I saw it was when I created it. That's not much of a story though. Let me tell you about Lun's first time. I had invited Lun and a young lady friend of his over for drinks (and so much more). Earlier Lun had produced a zip disc and told me he had some really bitchin' surgical fetish midget porno he wanted to put on my system. I foolishly said that it would be fine in the morning.

It turns out that disc didn't have any SMFP on it, infact it was completely blank. After I had passed out Lun helped himself to "Crestfallen" and Eps 1-8 of "The Way" series. I still have 9-12 as I had yet to create them at that time. Romantic, isn't it?

BTW, if you created the Way after watching NGE, it does parallel somewhat with The Way.
