The shadow men

In the pits you fight a shadow guy with messed-up hair... (how does he maintain what looks like burning hair and still be cloaked in shadows...?)

Who is he?
could it be traziun? After all Traziun did jump down the pits after a shadow sword. (ep2)
Why do you fight him? Is he depressed, pissed-off, boored, just bought a new sword?


And who are the two shadow men that give Rhue his sword?

Pontifex? Could be..
Gaius? Probably not, for some reason I think Gaius to be about the same age as Rhue.
Foreman Ballar? Hey why not?
Harbriger? Who knows?
Zedicus? Well Zedi is old
Sacrifia? Well Sacri is old



And finally The phantom slasher.

He looks frighteningly alike Rhue this, along with the PS appearing mostly when Rhue is asleep, has spawned theories that Rhue is the PS.
It could Be:
Serena. The PS is protective of Rhue
Gaius. Gaius is mysterious.
Rhue. Though I doubt it.
Rhan. If he got a haircut that is.
Guardian of the Purpose. PS kills mostly "sinners"
out of ideas.. it could even be just your random nutcase

If the Phantom Slasher is A gaurdian of the purpose or whatever, then it would explain why it is Pontifex's tool, a guided "clensing" the way of sinners. But Rhue is such a flamming sinner, and you see the slasher watching Rhue at night when he is alseep. But you always see the PS killing people when they are perfectly awake. So here is what I thought why it won't kill Rhue.

It is afraid of Rhue.
It is protecting Rhue (Most probably not)
It IS Rhue, and all the times you see it watching him when he's alseep could be his inner PS trying to control him and become him for good, or the shadow you see at night is The Shadow Sword Rhue may have, and he is trying to take over Rhue, and the PS is the physical-being form of the spirit.
It is Rhue (b) and the PS inside of Rhue wants to die and so it trys to kill Rhue from inside his head. (Again he never really sees the PS just an image in his head)

I think that the Phantom Slasher is the "perfect blade" that Kalmar talked about in ep.5. Traziun ran away because he thought it would be impossible to rid The Way of all evil so instead Gaius became the Phantom Slasher.

I found matches similar to the shadow men, however they could be just templates.

The PS being the"Perfect Blade" ... well it's beleivable. It does kill anything it attempts to kill



Yeah sinova your old topic had alot of good points... just wanted to bring some new theories.. after all i don't beleive a "soldier-type-guy" would stand like frozen in the rain...

But has it ever occured to you that the Shadow men that gave Rhue his sword NEVER move. I think they might even be dead....

The two shadow figures that gave Young Rhue the sword... I believe that that was Rhue and Gauis. I know it's weird, but perhaps the Older Rhue absorbed the aura of Young Rhue, causing him to believe in this Serena figure. Or, it could be vice versa, with the young Rhue absorbed Older Rhue's aura. This, of course, raises the fact of whether the Main Rhue is the real Rhue. Perhaps Young Rhue is somewhere else on the Way, while the Main Rhue is really some guy named Darris. This, of course, means that the Main Rhue/Older Rhue doesn't know Serena at all, if Serena exists at all. That was the most confusing shadow figure occurence to explain.

Throughout the episodes, Gaius swears that he has met Rhue somewhere before, but he never mentions where. Perhaps Rhue has forgotten about Gaius's past with him, and simply takes that this is the first time he has ever met him before.

Also, about Traziun's mother. Perhaps Rhue and Gaius worked together to kill her. That is why Traziun is so shocked as he watches the past murder of his mother.

yeah i read that... but if older rhue gave younger rhue the sword that would imply that the way is an endless repeating circle.

And then in ep6 rhue and gaius would go away from the river and soon little rhue would come by and older rhue would give him his sword.

and then the circle is completed.

IF NOT
then rhue will kill gaius swim down the river and find himself where serena landed and finds her there


and about traziuns mother.. it could be Rhue and Gauis.. i wouldnät be suprised but i doubt that It is Rhue however..

oh! and Alan isnät dead... he starrs in the ep5 easter egg scene

Yes, perhaps the Way is an endless cycle. Very good theory. And that would be cool too if in Episode 6 Older Rhue gave the new Younger Rhue his sword. Whoa. That would be a plot twist. After all, Gaius and Rhue are together at the end of Episode 5.

And yes, I know Alan isn't dead. However, many people thought he was. And where is this easter egg scene. PLEASE TELL ME!

Open the game in RM2K, open the map named "Short Sketch" and set the start position at 000, 008.

To watch the old ending, open the map "CHESTS!!!", choose "The End of the Way?" and set the start position at 024, 012. There are some interesting stuff in that one.
