Question

This may have been asked before, but I didn't see it anywhere.

In Episode 4, the first opponent you face in the tournament is a man named Therin, I looked bak at Episode 1 and saw that your first opponent in the game was someone with the same looks and same name.

My question is, if it is the same guy, shouldn't he have recognized you, or at least said something? This just struck me as odd, thats all o.o

I noticed that too. I have no idea why neither Rhue nor Therin recognize each other. Odds are, they just forgot. It had been several weeks since they'd met and they hadn't been together for very long (just long enough for Rhue's first Plunge), so it makes sense that they wouldn't remember. They've both probably met many other people along the Way since then, so they can't be expected to remember everyone. Rhue especially, considering all the things he has on his mind.

maybe they did recognise each other but they just had nothing to say?
i mean they're encounter was hardly memorable, just a way lun could show us the absolute basics of the plunge system. You can even skip that entire tutorial by refusing to take part if i remember.
or Lun couldn't be assed to create a meeting that really had nothing to do with the story in any way or was just using a previous character so he didn't need to make a new plunge charset

there are tons of possible answers but its not particually important

I happen to think that Therin may be more important a character than is thus far evident, but I have no evidence to back this up.

They did meet up again in the Marna Stretch and had a talk, well at least if you talk to him. He tells you about the woolie game.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that. He also gives you some pointers (ups one of your stats) if you didn't win all of your Plunges in Lide, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, it makes less sense that they didn't say anything to each other, now that we all remember that they met twice before Estrana. Rhue spoke with Rhan, who he hadn't seen in an even greater amount of time. Granted, the two had also gone spelunkering (misspelled, I think that is) with Traziun, but...

Yeah, either Lun was too lazy, or there was nothing to say. But could Therin have noticed that Rhue lied about his home stretch?

Therin only gives the Plunge stat boost if you miss a Lyn Rock earlier in E2, as well as losing the tournament. Just so I can kill the next person who thinks losing in Lide is a GOOD idea.

Maybe Lun put Therin there just to show players the improvements of Rhue in plunge.

That's a good point Berserker. Even if it wasn't meant that way, when you think about it does show just that.

I think that 's pretty close... and it saved time.

...But why didn't they recognize or acknowledge each other?

No... That would be too lame. I refuse to believe there's no reason behind it!

Come on, Rhue probably forgot about him, they weren't close friend or something.
