Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the PSP skip? I mean, that'll be hard to avoid. An example of non-skippy technology that came to mind was a walkman, but those skip occasionally. I'm afraid that when it skips, the game might go to poop

Companies known for the latter should NOT be making handhelds. The PSP will get DREs and skips, it's very dangerous to have moving parts in a handheld, the screen will get scratched, and the system will break easily. And have shit battery life and potential for innovation.
