I'm unsure it's the shadow sword giving him his intense violence. I think it's because the answers are right under his nose and no one is spitting their knowledge.

Hell even I get pissed off when people know shit and are reluctant to tell me.

Rhue gets more violent as the story progressed due to his exposure to hazardous situations. Such as:
Walking trough the pits.
Killing people a little now and then.
Being hunted by blood-lyn.
Being injected by a wierd drug.
Fighting to the death with several master plungers.
+ More.

If YOU would have these experiences you wouldn't be all "peace love and understanding" :P

Still if Rhue has a shadow sword it could enhance the effects of getting violent.

I assume you know the weapon names by checking the game in rm2k?

Anyway, if the Illuminati are good for the Purpose, it doesn't mean they're good for Rhue, Serena or any other character.

"And kind of off the sword subject, the flashback in... episode 2 I think... right after Rhue is pushed into the pits by Strata where Rhue is asking Lyrra where Jeruh is... maybe it's really a flash forward. Maybe when you go through the End of the Way, time resets and Rhue is trying to fix the problems of the past. Or maybe that's all random and useless, but eh."

what im thinking is, like the random guest say back on the first page, how maybe at the end of the way, you go back, and Rhue might go back and fix his past, which may help bring back Serena if she is dead, and Lyrra and Lexus. That was what i was thinking, maybe he can reset time and save them. who knows.......

Yeah, and that would mean Rhue has to do something like, stop the kids go out to play (The Landorin Massacer), that would make it so Kloe and Cetsa (if it was them) still be friends, and so Kloe would never be a Blood Lyn, and the Blue scarves would never exist. Then Lyrra would never met Strata, Jed and Jeruh would still be alive. Then everything in the Way would never have happened, and Little Rhue would never have gotten his sword, and Trazuin would get helped by Rhue to do his "Impossible" mission.

I hope there will never be time travel...
usually it just screws up the story.

What about star ocean? what about crono trigger? time travel doesn't always ruin a story.

If it is like that, Rhue might have restarted time and came back as the phantom slasher. That could be the reason why it's protecting Rhue.

Ocarina of Time is a good one. :D

The Way doesn't seem like it'd be good with time travel though...

If Rhue was to change the future, he did not do a very good job. History repeated itself when Estrana was destroyed, very much like Janwen did.

If the way were to use time travil. It would not be like Chrono Trigger, or Ocarina of time. I think that it would be more like The Butterfly Effect (if you saw it). Where he can go back to sertain points in time for a short bit and try to fix something while there. (I personaly don't think there will be anything like this but if there was time travil in the way i think it would be more like that)

Examples why timetravel is IMPOSSIBLE

I'm walking down a street i see someone committing suicide b'cause i killed his friend years ago.
I go back in time somehow and stop myself* from killing the guy and then the first guy doesn't commit suicide. But why should my past self travel back in time now that there is no purpose for that.

better example.

I go back far into time and kill one of my ancestors. Now i have made my own existence impossible. that way i cannot go back in time from the future and gill my ancestor...

*(Unless the 'back to the future things are true and if you see your past/future self the universe collapses :))

Screw this, if you wan't to discuss timetravel do it on some science forum :P

But IF Rhue would travel trough time HOW would he do it? with a spaceship? A flute? a fast car?
