Everyone should check out the game The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone. It's got some amazing CBS and CMS coding in it. I haven't played much into game, so I don't know if the story is good or not, but the systems are definately worth checking out.

i found the rpg maker 95 an it works on windows xp some site called http://stifu.free.fr/english.htm he made a rpg maker capible of playing on windows xp an it does so far on mine

I seriously hope you guys have had a crack at Aurora Wing!
It has got to be one of the best games made with RM2K that I have ever played, It has an awesome Tactical Battle System (dammit I LOVE IT), some serious coding has gone into this game.
Oh yeah, the story is a little cliche, but it works. The characters are also another strong point.
Great game, play it. Aurora Wing. Oh yeah, hopefully I'll be on the highscore list, not a single casualty!
I found it at Gaming World, but you could always go into google and enter 'april-showers aurora-wing' Good luck, see if you can surpass my record!

Or you could just play a real tactical strategy game like tactics ogre or ogre battle or final fantasy tactics.
