If it's true the shadow sword "Phantom Slasher" exists then I would think that would tell the nature of the thing. Maybe it just attacks people with strong auras for whatever reason, and absorbs them to whatever end.

the main word there is often but that still means that some are harmed or even killed. And still we dont even know all the people the ps has killed. I mean there are probally alot of people that they havent even found yet. So really its still unknown

Well maybe Rhue is like the PS's guinea pig. It wants Rhue to get really strong to a point, then the PS will attack him, kill him and become unstoppable.
