You can't produce* energy... at least not in the rate you use it..

America sure as hell doesn't "produce" 50%

You import Oil from the middle-east. This you make gasoline with. The gasoline is used in cars, aeroplanes and other mechanical contraptions.

This along with Nuclear energy is the main power source of america.. Second i belive is water power** wich produces the "needed" electricity.
Water power comes from dams in the great rivers.
