Mickey Kelly, my best friend ever, was in a car accident. I just found out an hour ago. He's dead. Sarah's on the phone crying. I'm home alone. This shit is fucked up.

I'll tell you two things right now Glenn.

One, you'll get over it. People will always die. Just thank the Circumstances it wasn't you. Other people will come along eventually. Make deal, and make due.

Two, don't expect a great amount of feeling from us. We didn't know the guy, we don't really know you, and I can tell you there's no one here who's all that empathic. You'd do better going to a school counselor than all of us.

Dang. I may not have known him, but I know how it feels to lose a good friend. And Bill, there is such a thing as TRYING to show some respect for thr the dead and thier friends/families. You are a heartless, emotionless, jerk.

theese kind of event will never leave you, you either succumb into depression or take more value in your own life

I've had my grandfathers die, an old schoolfriend get killed a cousin born dead and a couple of kids my age have taken suicide, I can't say I know how you feel, but I sort of know the pain.

I have I special card for this occasion (showing stick figures dying violent deaths with "Get Well Soon" emblazoned at the top) but I can't find it.
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." (Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio)

Memories will fade. At first, you'll think of it all the time. Then gradually you move on. A minute here, a minute there. You won't think about it at all. Then longer, maybe you'll last a whole conversation with someone without thinking about him. Then a day will go by without thinking about it. Then a few. Then weeks and months. In ten years you probably won't even remember but on the day of his death.

And GrandAdmiralThrawn, you've obviously never lost anyone. Shut the fuck up yourself.

Thanks guys. I spent the night at Sarah's last night. We were up till 5 talking, and for some reason she wanted to bake a cake. So I helped, and that kinda took our minds off of it for a while. It was an orange-flavored cake (not really all that relevent, but still).
Then I called my friend Paul who used to live here, then moved to Arizona. He had found out from another friend, and so when I called him, he was hammered. He was all, "Okay, to be honest I don't really remember where Mickey lives, I'm so hammered."
Apparently Mickey was on his way to our semi-formal dance, and he was supposed to pick up our friend Erik. When he never got there, Erik called Mickey's house and found out what happened. The roads were completely covered in snow. He shouldn't have even been driving that night. He lost control of his car, and got hit by some other car. I'll be going to the wake or whatever it's called, and then the funeral. Literally the entire school will be silent tuesday (no school monday). Well, unless you count the outbursts. Cuz then that's like...loud.

For your information, Bill, I have lost several good friends. I was just telling you not to be so callous. When you posted that, it was only about 2 hours after the guy died. You could try showing respect for the dead. I try to help my friends get through deaths, even if I didn't know the guy at all.

Your friends hm? Since when is Glenn your friend? I hope that humanity hasn't stooped so low as to allow you to think of people who act civil to you on the internet as friends. Don't tell me Jeramyu and Porter are your friends. You're a nonentity. Now leave Glenn's sorrowful topic alone.

And callous? I state the truth. People die. That's what happens. Accept it, get whatever counselling you need and move on. Don't expect people from across the country to sympathize, when nothing in their own lives has changed. Talk to a proffesional if you need to Glenn, no amount of hollow kind words here can help.

I feel for you man. I can accept a death when its expected, but things like that totally blow my mind. Es tut mir leid, es tut mir leid. <It does me sorrow.>

Hey bill, are the "Circumstances" in kahoots with the "Purpose"?

I've never really been phased by my loved ones dieing, there's only been oen person that I actually did feel remorse for, and that was my ex-girlfriend when she killed herself (quite brutally I might add, the cops found her dead in a bathtub full of blood and feces...). But, I've gotten over it, as will you in good time. If you can't find a way to cope with their deaths, start believing in god(s), that seems to be what most of the world does these days. Just remember on a long enough time line, everyone's survival rate drops to 0%, and your friends were no exception; albeit they still had a full life to live, and such a sudden and grizzly ending does not define a "quiet" and/or "humble" way to leave this plane of existance. But I will agree with some of the following people on one thing: honoring someones death on a forum is not the proper way to give respect, not just because it's the "internet", but because noone on this forum knows (or cares deep down inside). You must realize, that what you're asking us to do is to also grieve for those that would be placed on the same level as the other millions of strangers that die every year. I cannot and will not shed remorse for those which have not touched my life, and expecting people on this forum to project the same "true" empathy that you do, is a little foolish. The death of one that has touched you will always be remorse, but the death of a million who you've never even met won't graze you in the least. It's simply how humanity is built, so guys, quit flaming Bill, because what he says holds alot of truth. I'll give my condolences Glenn, but not my pity.
