Java is becoming too painful to use...though then again, I'm not looking forward to pointers.

Pointers can be avoided quite a bit if you really want to avoid them. Especially for basic stuff.

- Area maps: I don't need to be able to walk around from one point of interest to another as long as there are points of interest where I can do something. So, having pretty area mpas with clickable regions on it would be just as good for me. If I want to run and jump around I'll just start up World of Warcraft.

You mean in the style of the Myst and Riven? Oh and also you didn't mention the regular battles, and for my idea of the game there would be those regular RM2K type battles, as well as auras and all that stuff. My vision of what this would be like the Way we have now only multiplayer, however I would not mind a myst-like view of the world.

SpaceBoy2000, yes, you should contiunue this plunge thing in java, but the "MMORPG" if there ever is one should be programmed in a non-interpreted language, due to speed issues.

Edit: hoho, you thought that was big? TAKE THIS! http://www.wc3sear.ch/viewtopic.php?t=11318 :D :D :D
Shop smart, shop S-Mart.

<Jeramyu> I'm going to mistranslate our own anime, and piss ourselves off.

Is there a reason the test.bat file won't run? 'Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: us/crestfallen/theplunge/PlungeTest' it says. It's probably something to do with the wrong version of java or something. Sorry, I never really got into java.

Are you sure you extracted everything into the right folders and all?

BTW, Jabbo, the stats you gave me works decently, though Artfully Impaired is quite the tough one to beat.

Yeah, it's extracted and the class file is right there where it says it is, it apparently just can't find it. Ah well.

And I figured the combat heavy ones would be better... blade arts really don't give THAT much of an edge.

Okay, change the first line in the .bat file to:

java us.crestfallen.theplunge.PlungeTest -cp <directory path here>

It should make it work. Other than that, I don't know....

ok i have a question about blade arts in online plunge. How do we get our blade arts? is it different for the chars we choose? or do we just win and get other's blade arts or find the blade arts or just get it on the first place?

Maybe it depends on the blade art and your skill levels. If it's a step one blade art you wont need much to master it, maybe just witness the blade art once or twice. But better blade arts should be harder to learn.

So far, the system is that you choose from a few characters, who will have their own set of blade arts. Hopefully by the end of the summer, I can work out a system where you can make your own character instead. As you can see by looking at the source, making your own character, especially graphics wise is very simple. I'll include a documentation next release...

You can right now. Open up the sprite under images\lyn\ and colourize away.
