You can still access the event, but all it does is show Rhue STILL hitting Lexus, then who transforms into a Guided. Then Rhue says "Oh well, my job's done" then leaves.

She was Sacrifa's wife--the one with the horrible skin disease. Her death was pretty sad.

(However, it was off camera; Lun tastefully panned away as they were stoning her. So maybe she's still alive? Somehow I think not.)

I think somebody earlier suggested Rhan's girlfriend, who presumably also died in the catastrophe (since she's not with Rhan later). I did like her.

I thought he was just feeble either way; Rhue's advice to make sure he hit the rocks at the bottom really sounded good to me.

Lilah's body is featured being eaten by crows in one scene.

Man that death wasn't sad, it was disturbing. I wasn't like "boo hoo! Why Lilah?!" I was like "WTF? DIE VELUCIA YOU BIATCH!"

But can you be sure that was really her.? Even crows might have been afraid to eat the real Lilah.

Well, Velucia was a stone killer right from her first appearance. It happens that the first people she killed in the game (presuming you side with the Guided on Marna) are quite a bit worse, but she doesn't know that when she pronounces death upon them. I personally thought that whole episode with the bandit settlers and the Guided was especially sinister--one of the darkest things to appear in the game to that point.

Incidentally, do people think that Lilah's skin condition is likely to play any further role in the plot? Is it important how she contracted it, or was it just an irrelevant fluke?

The huge difficulty with character deaths is making you think not "WTF? That sucks", but "That's really sad". Those are the two possibilities, and the hardest thing for a storywriter is to accomplish the second one. Lyrra's death SHOULD have been ad, since she feels like the Aeris of The Way, but it wasn't. Lexus' was. I don't know why Lun did it that way...

Heck, I thought Cetsa's death was sadder than Lyrra's. Why? Because when a bad character becomes good and then dies straight away, it's pretty damn sad.

For anyone here who watches it, Full Metal Alchemist had another example of it later on. You knew that person had to die, but when they started helping the main character, it came as a shock to see them dead all of a sudden. Especially since that person was one of the better villains.

Slade's death was also a bit WTF-y. Yes, it was sad that he died so unfulfilled, realising what he'd messed up and everything. But the WTF element came from the fact that he died in such a pathetic way. Being scared of Kloe and just walking off the cliff? Bah.

This post was in fact relevent to the current discussion somehow. >_> Well, Amgard's last post did remind me about this.

I thought Lyrra's death was quite sad. We got to see her fantasy life collapsing around her, as Strata treats her more and more poorly (and he wasn't any catch to begin with), until finally leaving to chase after Cetsa. Her madness upon learning of her father's death seemed quite effective and her end tragic.

I found Cetsa's recantation of evil pretty unmoving. So she decides she wants to change and tries to do one good thing, so what? It's not very deep for a villain to recognize their villainy and occasionally try to make amends. They then generally relapse back into evil. Cetsa got her just desserts, and I don't feel sorry for her.
