It was okay that the spestas respawned in marna because only a fool would have the patience to level up on spestas.

I level up in the pits instead, you get a lot more AR there.

Marna was pretty early in the game all told, and until that point there had been limted monsters. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to level things up effectively later in the game (i.e. how much AR would be available), so I hung around Marna for a while. I had fun exploring every little area of the stretch.

The Marna Stretch...I hated it the first time I played, because I didn't want to enjoy the scenery - I was after the story.
The second time I played it, it wasn't that bad, 'cause I knew what was going to happen, and I felt less rushed.
It was still laggy, though, even with everything turned off.

And I'm assuming everyone met the original hero of The Way?
The land beneath the sky,
Echoes of the past decry.
A lost love carried on,
Words to a lonely song.
Everyone must bleed,
Rhue gets the sex he needs

Its a little secret that you can only get to with in RM2K. THis is the "Original Hero of The Way"

Image

He was the original main character until Lun relised he looked like a girl. Heres what he said:

Hi, I was the original hero
of The Way.
The creator used RTP graphics and
made a long intro featuring me.
But then Lun learned how to do
some 3D graphics....
He also realized that I have
the body of a female
RTP character.
This wasn't cool, so I got ditched
and then Lun created a custom
graphic for Rhue.
Several other failed versions of
Rhue were created in the process.
Lun sure got good at sprite editing
though.
Maybe we'll see some of
them pop up in the game
somewhere...
Another thing, a lot of people seem to
think Lun uses RTP facesets, or merely
edited ones.
Maya made them, but Lun wishes he
would have used a different style now.
Hoever, he was planning on using RTP
facesets somewhat, so he wanted them
to match with the custom ones.
What a mistake. He eventually
ditched that idea of using any RTP
faces. (For the most part.)
Mostly because a lot of people in
the Rm2K community get really
whiney when they see RTP
facesets.
If you don't have a clue what
RTP is, then bless your soul!
That means you have a more
open mind.
However, if you reached me, I would
assume you must know what
RTP is.
Don't bother talking to me again
I'll just repeat this long boring
spiel.

There you go, what do you prefer, Rhue or him?

DSOK wrote:In most console RPGs, I find myself wishing that there should be more areas like the Marna stretch. I mean, what's keeping the hero from actually wandering around interesting areas?

People often complain about having to go through dungeons or buildings or whatever that they think are too long. Sometimes these things do get tedious, but I like to see large encounter areas, because a lot of those areas really would be vast. One idea I've long had was to have a game that takes place entirely within one city--a real, city-sized city. Estrana might seem large by comparison to what we've seen in other games, but it doesn't even approach a real city in size.

So I'd like to see lots more stretches like Marna.

You, my friend, should play Ephemeral Phantasia. The game IS a city... Well, rather, an island covered by a city. They say that "It's a rather small city with around 200 inhabitants." The guitar mini-game doesn't hurt, either. I like the game for when I need to cool off and wander. Eventually, though, everything--no matter what the size--can be totally memoized.

At any rate, I LOVED Marna stretch. I spent about 10 hours admiring the scenery there. And, as I went, I picked stuff up, did this, did that... Never really tried to learn my way around and recognize the main paths and that. More Marna, more goodness.
