Of course it would be shadow effects. In many cases, that's clearly what its supposed to represent in the game, as when Cetsa and Kygar are talking on the balcony in Lide.

Of course, I also explained this already.

You would have to arrange very carefully all the scenes involving them, so that they would only appear in full shadow. You then depict them just as they appear. There's no essentialy difference between that and what Lun has done, but in two dimensions, it's not really possible to show any depth of shadowing, so the characters appear as completely black.

However, this makes me think of another question, What if there were voice actors for the major characters? That might give away Violet's identity when she appears in the dark with Kygar. It's not a major point, but it's another issue to think about.

Voice actors.
Woah.
I wonder what Rhue would sound like.
I wonder what Scatha would sound like.
Woah.

A lost love carried on,
Words to a lonely song.

Voice actors? I'll make a list :-D

I'll give the VA's names, and then a link to a page about them which lists things they had their voice in.

Rhue - Steven Jay Blum http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... nid-68290/

Gaius - Robert Wicks http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... nid-120906

Traziun - Tsunami from "Twilight of the Dark Master" Can't find his VA anywhere, but if you've seen the anime... Well, you know how perfect it would fit.

Strata - Scott Menville http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... sonid-4849

Lyrra - Can't think of one

Kloe - Can't think of one

Kygar - Christian Campbell
http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... sonid-1266

Slade - David Kaye http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... onid-10754

Dirk - Beau Billingslea http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... onid-10874

Cesta - Wendee Lee http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Pe ... onid-20809

There... I know a lot of people will say American VA's suck, but that's not true anymore. For anything that's not on the WB or FoxBox, the publishers are realizing the importance of good VAs these days. Anyways, feel free to add to mine for characters I forgot, or suggest other VA's instead of the one's i've got. I probably won't change my idea of who should be who, but it'll be interesting to see this.

I haven't heard (or haven't heard much of) most of those voices, so I can't really comment on them, but I think your suggestion for Slade is good. The VA you suggested would probably work for Cetsa, too. I think Dirk should sound kinda like Jiraiya in Naruto (only in English :P).

However, I must strongly disagree about your suggestion for Rhue.

NOBODY that inhuman deserves the honor of voicing Rhue. Or, for that matter, the honor of life. If I ever met a bastard like that, I'd bring a gun.

I think you're being far, far too restrictive in who you consider here. Since this whole topic dwells in fantasy land, we should be looking for the best voices possible; I don't think cost ought to be an issue in who gets chosen. :)

Actors who specialize in voice parts for cartoons and video games do, in general, stink. This is, moreover, is in no way unique to America. Why is this? Because no actor's first choice is doing these parts! The best voice acting is done by people who are competent actors in their own right, not clowns who can't get real work.

Actually, Harrison Ford would fit as Traziun or Strata. They're both kinda like Han Solo....carefree and badass. (with the exception of Strata...)

Yeah.
But I say whoever voices Yugi in Yugioh should be Alan.

Whoever said Cam Clarke: Totally. He kicked ass as Liquid Snake.

He could do virtually anybody, though.

David Hayter? Heh heh. He could do Slade no problem.

I'd prefer no one who does dubbed "anime" touch any of this. They do HORRIBLE voices.

So...

I still say Trazuin should be played by Jay Franke. His job as JC Denton/Paul Denton was amazing.

Yeah... but why are we talking about this if it's unlikely to happen?

... Please don't flame me :P

I personally think, though, that if they ported this to a console, it would lose its feel and style.

Out of all your suggestions, no one has suggested a voice for Scatha... I wonder why... :P

ol' lukie as rhue? haha that'd be something :P

I havent heard almost any of those actors... blasted dubbing of movies....

anyways alan must, and i do mean must, have a perfectly correct brittish english.

Rhue needs to sound innocent at first and gradually turn more and more sinister (wich he does) you need a great VA to do that.

Lyrra should have a sweet innocent voice.

Traziun sort of a cool badass voice, very confident.

Rosmar a kind of angry stubborn voice, should fit for strata though strata should have a more know it all,/king of the world attitude

Gaius either a semi-sinister voice or a gay one. Mark hamill would fit there.

Jed should have... ooh whats his name? the father in american pie!

somehow i think of heather locklear as cetsa...

scatha.. now thats kind of tricky... she needs to hiss like a snake constantly...

Kyger.. cant think of anything
