Alex D'Or, French RPG Maker award nominations!

As for meteors... i think it's highly doubtfull that lun is going to go completely ff7 on us all : killing lexus - aeris, the dream world of collected memories - cloud's twisted mind and self image... if now lun would add meteors to it and makes rhue fight trazuin, (aka cloud vs his former idol sephiroth) then i guess i can just go back to playing ff7 (just kidding ^_^)

The Way needs all the exposure it can get, you know. It's not very enjoyable for a game author to have a game only few people have played. Getting a good deal of votes in such a contest would be good publicity.

They have some good sides (although one of those selected for best scenario makes me wonder...), but they can't compete with The Way. Maybe with just Episode 1, but it's not fair the other games are full games and that's only part of it.

You're probably right, but I'm not going to take your word for it. I don't vote for things just because somebody tells me to--never, ever. I don't speak nearly enough French to play those games (including the French version of The Way, which I would have to play through, to adjudicate the quality of the translation). So I'm not going to vote.

He just doesn't want to vote for it just because he was told to without knowing anything about the other games. Aedemphia : ish ok i guess... but i doubt it's a match for the way... there's tons of better french games out there...
check CH3:biogenese for that... it rules big time over these candidates...
there's even a resident evil game out there (in french ofcourse) that actually manages to closely tie to the original feeling of the game series it's trying to mimic....

If I could play the French games and understand them, then I would probably play them and vote. Or if they were all in German, which I speak fairly well (or used to--my vocabulary atrophies as I go on without much practice).

Nvm, I saw the site...the link didn't work for me the first time.

I didn't know there were so many french rm2k games...actually the only one I've played so far was Laxius Power
made by Damien (it has option of french/english in all 3 episodes)...

I guess I'm gonna have to do some downloading, but I truly love The Way (I guess that's how I ended up
at this forum anyways) and will vote for it .

Sure, I'll lighten up. Don't vote if you don't want to, what do I care. I'm just happy I have the chance to play The Way and by getting at least a couple of votes other people will pick it up and play it and also get the chance of enjoying the wonders of The Way.

Yes, the other games are "fine", but truly not even near the quality of The Way. That's my opinion and I'll vote when the time comes.

I'm not going to post again in this topic, as it just comes down to a clash of opinions.

I came across this thread because I had seen Roir's post previously on the Alex d'Or board. Also, I decided to post after reading a few comments here...
I think you should not worry too much about The Way getting more popular whether it wins or not both "Alex d'Or" awards it's participating in. For being a quite well established member in the french community, I know as a fact that the Alex d'Or does very little when it comes for promotion and overall recognition. Moreover, the Way is "only" nominated in 2 categories, so most french players will probably not even notice it anyway, be it a winner. Last year's main winner did not earn a lot of downloads, simply because in France, rm2k is pretty hectic (not sure about this word)
As for me, I won't vote, because I don't like the Alex d'Or. I even cancelled on my own the subscription of both my latest games (and despites the fact that, to the general opinion, the 3rd stood fair chances to win awards)
That's all for my rant, take care everyone, and don't get too much carried away, I think that's really not worth it.

I still don't understand why you'd withdraw from the contest, even LP2 could've won an award or two.
So what if it's not Oscars and you don't earn thousands of downloads...
it's fun and still an introduction to the french community, no matter how big or small that may be.

In my book, trying doesn't equal failing.

Even two nominations are good and seems like you've noticed The Way already so I'm sure you're not the only one.

Well guys, it's time!

They just opened the polls, so here's how it works. Sorry if I'm going too far into the details, but everything is in French, and I don't want anyone to get fooled up because of it :

First you go to http://alexdor.consolemul.com/systeme_vote/register.html and register with a Screenname, email addy, and password (no surprise there). They'll send you an email confirmation with a link that you have 2 days to activate.

Follow the link, then click on Login. Put in your screenname and password again, and that will take you to the actual voting page.

You'll find The Way listed as "La Voie, Episode 1" in the "Meilleur Scénario" category (that's the 3rd one) and as "La voie 1" in "Meilleure mise en scène" (the 6th poll). Click the dot next to the name you wish to vote for, whether it's The Way/La Voie or not, and you're done!

Keep in mind that you have to vote for each category independantly. So vote once for Meilleur Scénario and once again for Meilleure mise en scène.

The polls will be there until the end of the month, so you still have time to give the other games a fair try if you feel like it (and aren't afraid of French). And try as many of the games in the other categories as you can stomach too!
