Yesterday I got my brand new shiny PowerBook laptop. Because Macs are like PCs, only ten times better but probably unable to play the Way (although it could be possible, I'll talk about that later).

The fantastic thing about this is that I can now do almost everything I'll ever need to from my bed (I also have a TV and GCN there). The laptop comes with a built-in AirPort card thing, which lets me use wireless Internet with the router thing my brother already got.
It's confusing learning all the key combinations, but the less I need to use a stupid track pad for, the better (although right now I have a mouse connected). There's stuff like Apple (equivalent of Ctrl) + O to open instead of Enter, though, which is just confusing.

I can't connect my keyboard to the laptop properly (I should have an adapter on Monday), so I haven't gotten it working through my normal computer screen (which is a pain to set up anyway). However, I've discovered something potentially better. The PowerBook DS! I can surf the internet on one screen and have AIM and MSN windows open on the other. I can write some stuff for school on one screen and research on the other. This will also help me a lot when I'm doing the Way novelization.

Anyone know if there's a GOOD IRC client for Mac, or am I stuck with this crap one?
While I can't run mIRC, I do get better versions of many programs - Office for Mac is far superior. There's also a special version of AIM called iChat. MSN sucks, though; it's only on like version 4.

So when my older brother was helping me set everything up yesterday, he tried out Virtual PC, which I can use to emulate Windows ME (XP takes too much power, 98 is too unstable). It doesn't generally work with games, though, since it can't emulate the graphics card. To demonstrate this, my brother opened a game which is basically a game where you play volleyball as a blob (against another blob). It actually ran quite well, which pissed off my brother. For some reason, I just burst out laughing, since he couldn't even play an extremely simple PC game on his laptop.
I also may have some hope of playing The Way thanks to this, although I haven't tried it yet.

In other news, ToS is awesome. Although I don't know WTF was going on when three things which are part of the battle mechanics showed up in one cutscene.

I'm not a fan of Macs. But whatever works, right?

I'm also curious as to your choice of this topic's name.

Yeah, well, fuck you. And you know why? BECAUSE I'M IN MY BED NOW! NO WIRES AT ALL! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!! Now I'm walking out! I'm in the kitchen! I'm in the lounge room! Okay, well, I'm still in my bed, but I was doing that yesterday, and the point is, I can. :x It's just so awesome to be able to do this that I can't be bothered getting up. >_<

There are some good Mac games, though. I have a kickass 2D shooter and a Pac-Man clone.

Macs suck. I despise them. Their keyboards never work right. They are annoying as hell to use. Don't get me started on Macs.

The Mac powerbook, and generally Macs with OSX are pretty spiffy computers. I was thinking of getting one, but my problem is with compatability. Everything I have is for windows, and most stuff you can download is too. Emulators generally suck, so I guess I'll be using windows for a while.

Heh, my Media Arts at school is in a new Mac lab...and we all friggin' hate it. A few lucky ones, like me, bring our laptop with us, and just do all our work on it instead of the E-Macs. Though a few people go for the new G5s for video editting as well, but even then, we're still not happy about it.

Chief complaints I hear from people:
- One button mouse
- Shortcuts are a bit different. Mainly due to the fact that the keys are in different locations. For Photoshop anyways.
- Almost everything is disabled. Kinda because the IT guys ran into trouble hooking it up onto the Novell network, so they hooked it outside of it to the internet, and disabed a lot of the stuff on the Macs.
- Did I mention there's only one friggin' mouse button?

Have the class now brings thier own two button USB scroll mouse. And though the system isn't THAT bad, I'd prefer loading Linux onto the machines and working with Linux anyday.

- One button mouse

Don't blame me you got shit mice. I can use a two-button mouse perfectly fine with this computer, or hold down Ctrl to right click. Macs really weren't designed with right-clicking in mind.
- Shortcuts are a bit different. Mainly due to the fact that the keys are in different locations. For Photoshop anyways.

Not bad, different. Basically you use Apple instead of Ctrl, and Apple + O instead of Enter. You get used to it (coming from someone using a laptop, requiring me to use shortcuts constantly), and it some aspects it's even better. For example, Windows asks if you want to delete something. OS X just makes you hold down the Apple key while pressing delete, which is really faster (without the risk of accidental deletion).
- Almost everything is disabled. Kinda because the IT guys ran into trouble hooking it up onto the Novell network, so they hooked it outside of it to the internet, and disabed a lot of the stuff on the Macs.

Sucks for you.

I like how instead of a taskbar and start menu, you get the dock and a bar on the side of Finder (like Explorer). It makes accessing frequently used programs much easier.

I don't like how Ircle sucks cock.
