GCM: I agree with you that it's a hoax but the reason his world isn't a Utopia is simple. It is widely agreed upon that if someone somehow manages to travel through time they will create a parallel universe. That way you cannot ever affect your own universe and there is no such thing as string theory. You will forge a complete new universe and no matter what you do there nothing in your universe will change unless you bring something from that universe with you.

Excell: What I meant was that you could take things back to you from the other time period, or other universe (Yeah, I read Timeline). I mean, say you know that there's a food shortage in 2006. So you go to the year 1400 and stock up on bread. You bring this back to your year. Tragedy averted right?

Of course, this is a very general statement. Obviously you can't fit that much bread in your machine at once. But something of the sort is what I mean.

When I said utopia I meant "Why isn't his world a utopia?" Which is unanswerable, because with 4th dimension travelling technology you should be able to prevent all bad things from happening. He says when you contract a serious illness you will die. And that they have not found a cure for aids. Why not then go to the future and then get a cure for aids

He also says that they don't want cures for diseases, when its time for someone to die, they die. He can't prevent things from happening because of world lines. Whatever future he returned to would be more his own, and not at all like the one that he created by altering the "past".

Or he's right. You can't prove it either way. Unless the guy who did it comes out and admits, and has proof, or someone manages to track him down after all these years, you'll never be able to say whether it was all a lie or the truth. Or you prove beyond a doubt that one of the theories he used was wrong. But that won't happen in our lifetimes I bet.
