Dont say anything bad about Rangi. He's the best artist on this whole forum.

Just for the record, I wanted to add that Rangi isn't one of TPTB.

Do you have rpg maker 95 installed? That would be a problem if you can't see any text. :D

I've started working on a tileset that you can use for the project if you like.

Darkknight89, i couldn't see the image you posted. Maybe it's just my comp., but i couldn't see it. Yeah, a custom tileset or two could help.

Image link is dead.

I finished the Act 1 script dump and sent it off.

Dont know, but it would probably help if you have Rpg Maker 95 installed first.

It does that to me too, but if I load it up in RM95 it works perfectly. If you already do that, I don't know whats wrong.

Okay, well, I d/l the original exe's off the homepage, and tried to run them and see if the game would extract so I could at least see what kinda midis lun was using and in what areas....but that was a no go, cause my comp hated the file lol.

So here's what I'll do: I'll write all new music completely from scratch. I'll release what I can as I get working on them. As they say, begin at the beginning, so I'll work on a title theme first...maybe I can reuse the musical idea in various ways throughout the game...that would be a nice touch I think.

As I complete a piece, i'll send it to you guys, or just upload it onto my student webspace and provide a link, so you guys can critique the music, and decide if you don't like it, or if it needs to be changed a little, etc. etc.

Sooooo, as for getting my brain cranking: if you could send me screenshots as you get working on it, I can see the general mood for a map and for scenes, and that would help immensely. First thing I'd like to see is a title screen....or at least the first scene/opener or whatnot, so I can feel a general mood and get the cogs in my head turning hehe :) I'm not talking each and every animated frame, just a few screens so I can get a genearal idea of what is going on.

If you want individual themes for characters, I'm gonna need to know what they look like, and a bit of their personality/background. Concept sketches go a long way, but sprites will do in a pinch. I'll certainly give the protagonist a theme, and I might try to tie some of the title music into his theme somehow.

If I can pull this off, I think it would be a good portfolio music-wise if I ever get around to achieveing my dream of getting into writing game music professionally.

At this point I know very little about the plot of the game, since I haven't played it :-/

I check my yahoo acct more often, but due to the nature of this project, it might be a good idea to use my gmail addy since I get relatively little spam there.

james.musicman@gmail.com

P.S. I'm not sure what kinda music you're all expecting, but I'll stick with orchestral, and maybe some combining orchestra and rock, or whatever I feel fits a given situation.

As for the styles i'm capable of writing, I generally favor classical and orchestral soundtrack, but I do write game/rock/battle type music. I've written modal/celtic sounding things. I've written some totally off the wall stuff, and i've tinkered with electronica (though I'm not that good at electronica yet) It's just my opinion that games encompasse a very broad spectrum of music, and so the composer should be fluent in several different styles of music. Unfortuantely....I can't write jazz worth a shit >_<

.... jesus this turned into a long post....sorry for taking up the ppls' times with the reading heh.

As far as Act 1 goes... I don't believe there was theme music for each character... Just general mood music for different sitiuations.

k, couple of things:

first, Knight, don't get too carried away with that stuff man. Jeramyu is going to make most of the visual material, even though we may use you.

secondly, i like your idea of using the same music in different themes, Vaylos. Also, if you could, try to make some theme music for certain recurring characters to add a little touch to it. :D

Jeramyu, i hate to ask you this, man, but do you think it is at all possible that you can send me the Ascension script too.

wait, before you start chewing me out, i have a reason. there a lot of unanswered questions in Inception, and i want to see where the story wentf rom there. i want to make the endings of Act one and two really good, and i thought that i might bring up another character or something if the things that happen in Ascension don't end up contradicting to what i may add. please, out of the goodness of your heart (added with the goodness that was required to script Act one and two :P), please get the dialogue dump of Ascension.

thanks to everyone who is helping out with this thing :D
